100$ a beer  full or empty so that always made it hard to pack them out I would really hate to get charged 1200$ to tote my emptys out . I been there quiet a bit and had rig cooler checked once but had beer on bottom and he did not go though it so no problem. Now on TN side they will go though camp site and cooler if left on ground and they drive though camp ground during the night and keep everything calm but all in all not that bad
85 TRUCK AUSSIE IN FRONT LINCON AROUND BACK MARLIN 4" SPRINGS UP FRONT WITH 63 CHEVYS ON BACK. REBUILT 22R WITH CRAWL CAM AND FEW OTHER THINGS NOTHING HUGE JUST WAITING TO GET PROPANE ON IT. RUNNIN 35'S M/T WITH MY LONGFIELDS 30 SPLINE SUPER AXLES. 4.7's IN T-CASE AND ON THE WAY WITH DUAL CASES. FULL HYDRO WITH TG ROCK ASSULT PUMP AND 2 X 6 AG RAM

Not to judge but we never drink and wheel, never drink on the trail, only once we are done for the day.

and worse yet, if you don't pack em out you are saying you dump your empties on the trail. That is exactly the type of behavior that gets the trails closed
But on the other hand, what if you wanted to do a trail cleanup and were picking up the empties to clean up, they would fine you then too? I would think they could tell the difference between freshly drank empties and trail cleanup empties.

Yup, Lower 2, peckerwood, slick rock, and the upper loop of 8.

CTENG in KS

Aren't some of them temporary closures and will open in the spring?  I thought only one major trail was actually closed for the full year.

The Forest Service has announced a winter closure for Tellico from January 1 through March 31 of each year, to take effect January 1, 2008.

Note that as of December 18, all trails (except a section of trail 8 ) are still open. Winter closure on all trails is expected to start on January 1, 2008. Call the Forest Service office at 828-837-5152 for the latest status.

Come to Tellico with us!

You have a month to get ready, it is a pretty informal deal.

:attention:

BAD NEWS FOLKS!

Looks like the trip is going to be canceled (at least we won't be going, you all are free to do what you want)

I spoke to Insane today, his buddies were out there this weekend and a bunch of the really good trails are closed for maintenence till Dec. 2008.
I have to PDF's from USDA below, and I am going to call them to confirm tomorrow, but Insane said lower 2 - a must do - is closed.
Slickrock and Legde - must do's - closed
The only really popular areas open are Guardrail and Helicoptor Pad and they have huge backups because there is nothing else to do.

I just can't see wasting the time and money to build the exo right now, not to mention the cost of fuel and camping to get up there.

Like I said, I'm going to call to comfirm but as you can see by the PDF's below (the last link is the Tellico trail map), and what Insane's buddies said, there is really no doubt that they are not open. Hell, lower 2 was closed off with guard rails.

Bummer, but at least we know now before going all the way up there.

I am not one to say I told you so but...........I DID...lol

LOL! Yes you did. :smack: I forgot all about that.

Of course I didn't think you were kidding but the only thing on the Tellico 4x4 site is about the winter closings and nothing about that. I had to google 'Tellico Trail Closings' to find those PDF's. That's not right of the Tellico site not to have info on that.

I'm going to cancel the reservations I made at Crawfords, if anyone else is still going to go you will have to contact them yourself.

Sorry guys but fuel is too expensive for frivilous trips anymore.

Guess we'll see you in AR in Sept.

Well that blows, they weren't all supposed to be closed, some were upposed to reopen I thought.

Sooooo, what is the plan, do we wanna consider alternate locations?  As long as it is an eastern location I can do it on a long weekend.  I am flexible!
