85' 22RE Xtra Cab Pickup Muffler Section
« on: Mar 11, 2008, 11:37:27 AM »
My muffler section on my 85' Xtra Cab pickup has seen better days. It is rusting through the side and needs to be replaced. I went to the Toyota dealer to order an exact replacement muffler section (PN:17430-35291) and was denied. I was told they are discontinued for all 85 Xtra cabs. I wanted to buy a cheap replacement from Toyota because it was direct fit, was quiet and was only $150. Do any of you know of another manufacturer that makes a direct bolt in muffler section for my truck that's for a reasonable price? Please let me know. Links to online pages work too.

2x above. i went to the local muffler shop and asked if they could just bend and size a few pipes for me and I'd finish the rest. mechanic said he had a muffler and just leave the truck and cat. 78 dollars later i had a complete cat back bent built and welded. included was the pipe to the cat from the header pipe. a lot of times if you can talk to the guy thats going to work on your rig, you can get what you want done.

My exhaust is not loud. I got a new cat, 2 1/4" pipe & muffler for $250 installed.

What do you guys think of exhaust products made by Downey? They make a cat back exhaust for a 85' Xtra cab here:

http://www.performancecenter.com/product.page/Exhaust+%26+Headers/Exhaust+Systems/0/0/0/DOW17479-CB/Toyota/1985/Pickup/2.4L/Xtra+Cab

Give me some honest opinions please.

probably one of the best (and most expensive) systems there is......Personally, I would buy the components separately (cat, exhaust and headers) and have an exhaust shop do the tube work...to save money

Ebay is THE place to buy cats and mufflers
