Direct bolt in.  They will probobly give you about 1-2" of lift if you leave them as is.  Id pull the overload from the 4x pack and use it instead of the one in the 2x because if I remember right the overload is curved on the 2x.  I know that the 90 was like that, but te 81 2x was not so youll have to see.

there is one thing you gotta do take the spring pin and flip it around so that its facing down instead of up

White your saying that if i take the springs out of my 89 2wd and put them onto my 82 4x4 in the rear that they will give it about 1 or 2 inches of lift??
I dont know what kind of springs i have in the rear of my truck but they are still arched really good and set up pretty high.
they clear 38's in the rear fine with the bed cut out some must have a add a leaf or something in them but look too be stockers.
Might have too try the 2wd swap
do they flex any better then the 4x4? :headscratch:

Thumper, the 89+ springs are I think 4" longer than 88 and under.  So youd gain flex with the later springs but if your springs will clear 38's already then Id mix the packs together using the 89+ main leaf.

Are you sure that it adds about a two inch lift? It was my understanding, that the 4x springs were actually more arched. Someone I spoke with who owned a 2wd said he put 4x springs in the rear, and it lifted the rear roughly an inch or two.

4wd springs have a bit more spring rate but less arch, so they can "hold" and arch better.  2wd springs have a lot more arch to them but a lower spring rate, so they will flatten out easier under load.  Thats why I mix packs together, the 2wd leafs make great donor material and the 4wd usually give up their middle leafs for the new pack.

Find a socket that is bit enough to go over the bolt piece but still contacts the sleeve in the bushing.  Then raise the spring pack off the ground so its level with the socket and suppoert it with some wood blocks etc. and beat the bolt with a hammer and drift.  If you soak it with lemon juice for a day or so it should break free.  You could always us the 2wd pack under the 4wd main leaf if it will not release.

So I am considering buying the superlift 3".  I'm going to get another truck so I'll save the front springs for when I get it.  But the reason I'd want to buy the kit is because my rear springs don't flex, and the kit comes with an aal.  So what if I used that add-a-leaf and put it in a 85 2WD rear stack for the rear of my truck?  I am only looking to run 33's, anyone think there would be a problem with this.

You dont need any lift to run 33's on an 8" wheel on that body style.  Well I didnt but I also tubbed the firewall.  That is the main reason I really miss the 81, the firewall was far too easy to tub.  Its a pain in the rump on all the later body styles.

Alright, well since I have a 4" lift I will run 33's on a 15x8 and I'll be fine, now I just need to find some softer rear springs that still give me a 3-4" lift.

I just came up with an idea.  There is a company called Fabtech Suspensions that specialize in 2WD long travel desert style suspension.  And they make a 2" leaf pack for the rear of a 89-95 2WD.  If I bought that and a 1.5" shackle, then that would be a 3.5" lift for the rear of a 2WD, bur roughly a 4.5-5.5" lift for the front of my 4WD, and then I have brand new springs!  Anyone have any input on this?  If you wanna check out that leaf stack I am talking about check out http://4x4cyberstore.com/index_02.html and scroll down until you see the leaf spring pack.

Correction, that link is only to the homepage.  After you click on my link, click on Fabtech.  Then over on the right it'll have vehicle manufacturers, click on Toyota (they're the last one), then click on the link that says 6" IVAN DAN Long Travel Kit.  Now you're ready to scroll down to the springs.  Please give me some input on these.

I had thought about that, it should work extremely well but If I remember right fabtech wanted a grip for their springs.

Oh yeah nevermind, they want $310 a pair.  If I remember correctly, Deaver had a pretty cheap rear 3" kit for the Toyota 2WD.  I would love to be able to use a 3" 2WD rear lift pack for the front.
