Me and a passenger + another truck ( new truck extendcab Chevy )  and 3 peps in his.

went on a midnight basto-coreinsa memorial run.
well the last part of the trail is not heavily runed so it was grown in ( scratch the heck out of the new truck) - took it back the next day lol

anyway   it has lots of whoops  and is very slow doing / sea sicking.   So my buddies like just jump it

I did :headshake:   cleared the middle whoop and landed on the middle of the third one   the ass end bounced up 45%  and i almost end up in a tree.    Broke a rear spring/shock (blistin) that night.

but it was really real fun

this is could an interesting thread.

when i drowned the 4runner. fearofrunner has a video of it so hopefully he can get it posted up but heres the story. we were playin around up in mantua with a fair amount of snow on the ground and found a pond that was partway frozen but mostly water. both pat's 4runner and jeff's 4runner had gone through it, lifted and 35+" tires with the water around the base of the bumpers. i decided to try it in my stock height 4runner with 30" tires, bad idea! got halfway through and water was about 1/2 way up the hood and i sucked in water.

got pulled out, water was up to the console, and 3 plug wires were frozen to the plugs, broke off. pulled the plugs, cranked it over to get the water out. fired up the 22re on 1 cylinder and drove it back down the mountain under its own power in 4low.

pat you better post up the video!!!

I once tried to cross a trench carved by water flow during storms, the forecast was thunderstorms, I got stuck, a huge thunderstorm popped up just minutes later, did I mention I was alone, CHP helicopter actually landed and told me that the thunderstorm was huge and headed this way and that I should leave the area since lots of water collected in this area during storms, CHP took off, I pitched a tent (what did you actually think I'd leave?), red 4Runner happens along, we drag my truck out, I drive to the top of the ravine, it starts to rain/thunder/and lightening, my tent is lost to the runoff, storm moves on, I swim out and collect my tent..... that is all.

Well DTB its kinda funny that you started this thread when you did.   :shake:

It just so happens that the dumbest thing I ever did off road happened this past weekend and Dirtoyboy was there to snap the picture.

Its not as bad as it looks.   After changing a flat, my spare used a different type of lug nuts.  All I was trying to do was to get from the back of the park to the front to put it on the trailer.  I didn't quite make it  :dunno:

I drove a Nissan!   :rofl2:

I don't know how many times I'd get high centered on that low hanging transfer case!  I got really good at using a little jack to push things around.  At that time, I was advised to never buy a high lift because they break arms!  Little did I know that they are the greatest item ever invented.

MiniSimp

Took a trail with my wife from Tuolumne to Yosemite (33 miles) with no supplies, no recovery gear, no radio, during a rain storm in the snow, and didn't let anybody know where we would be.
Deffinetly the dumbest. :shake:

DTB

My first off road venture was taking my college roommate and girlfriend out to experience the "Jeep thing" in my 93 Cherokee....like Mini, no tools, recovery gear, food, radio.....

I dont even know where the hell we were (possibly even on private property )

Slid into a creek bed and buried it up to the frame.

We had to walk about 10 miles in the middle of the night to get help and were almost run over by this crazy person who kept coming back and driving into the ditch trying to hit us. It was really scary. I was scared for my life and my friends. (Remember this is in back country southern Missouri.....I could hear the banjos playing)

I rarely go wheeling my myself anymore.....now I carry lots of recovery gear and stuff too....

went out wheeling with my truck and another at red rock canyon after a day of riding dirtbikes.  came up to a part in the trail that looked like fun.  i went to go through and my truck kept coming up on three wheels like it wanted to flop.  had 3 guys pulling down on the fender and my wife sitting on the hood to help hold it down   .  my truck finally popped through the section and when the front wheel came down and hit, my wife fell off and i ran her leg over  :slap:.  she didn't break anything but was bruised up pretty bad.  i don't think i'll ever hear the end of it from her.

Ouch, that's gonna leave a mark. I wouldn't let you forget that moment either.

I used to wheel alone all the time, of course my survival gear was always in the back. I can't count how many times I came across the lone wheeler with no gear stuck in the middle of nowhere, also come across some with friends that were stuck and couldn't fight their way out of a paper bag.

Even the time I got stuck alone I would have survived the storm, of course I did put my tent in the wrong spot but I had my backpack.

DTB you were probably on that guys property, not exactly the way I would have handled a trespasser, but you learned a lesson. I would have towed you free and charged you for it, then told you to get the hell off my property.

I learn ALL of my lessons the hard way.....

1. Dont drink and wheel (to excess)
2. Dont wheel on private property
3. Dont listen to a spotter that drives a Jeep

How right you are, the only damage I ever got on my 4Runner was some guy that owned a Jeep. Funny thing is that is what his excuse was.
