so i am going to start this thread so i dont have to use everyones to ask my questions. ok for everyone who dose not know i have an 83 toyota longbed. it has a stock 22r with 133000 mi on it (blowing smoke on start up and take off) with a flex fan :smack: that i am getting rid of for a black magic electrical fan . i have started on the cosmetics of it. i am cutting out the dash and building a metal box in frount of the driver only. i will have only the gauges in need to know what the truck is doing thinking or thinking about doing. i am also going to put a full cage :flamer: in that extends all the way through the engine compartment. the spare will be conected to the cagein the bed where the cage extends out of the back of the cab down to the bed. i am also trying to find bucket seats so i can run 5 pt harnesses. i am having a ft bumper built that will hold a winch down inside the bumper. i want to run chevies in the rear and toys on the ft(i am hoping  :crossed: that will give me enough lift to run 35's) as for the rest of it i dont know what i going to do. i know that as soon as i get my 72 blazer new engine broke in  :driving: i am going to pull the engine and rebuild it but i dont know :dunno: what i am going to do to the engine yet. also i am putting on a snorkel. anyhelp anyone can give would be great. i will post pictures before i get to much further.

they didn't call it a 5.0 cause it isn't one ;)

that would be a... 302  or in the mustang it might have been a 289.

ok heres the update. i am going to try to put as much info in this as i can. first i picked up my engine from a local wrecking yard for 100$. the gentalman told me it was a rebuilder but any stock parts i needed to come back to him and he would give me for free. now the engine is out of an 88 mustang (TBI) but the guy gave me the full set up for (MPI) for free. i have torn down the engine and fond the block to be in perfect condition. so i bead blasted it and cleaned it up. no i have a guy who is going to paint it for me barbie doll pink (remember this is going to be my wifes truck) as long as i let him paint the rest of the truck and can use it for promotions. any ways, i contacted steve at advence adapters (thank you WT) and he told me alot of my options. 1. get a t-18, t-15, c-4,c-6, trans and buy the adapter from them for about 575$, 2 keep my stock tranny and get ahold of northern 4x4 and buy the kit to make it fit for about 2000$, Now AA has all the instlation things i will need to do this. they have the motor mounts ( beware when doing this project if you have IFS you will NEED a lift for the oil pan to clear the suspention parts. they also carry the correct headers so the clearance will work great. i will try to get prices up for all of you tommarrow. well thats where i am at now. just tring to finish cleaning everything up so as i can get it painted. now as for the engine rebuild i am buying my kit form auto zone as they have the best price that i have found 275$ that includes everything except the crank but i will be trying to sell the cams i have because i am getting a comp cam for better low end torque. well thats where it stands for now i will try to get some pics posted soon. thankyou everyone for all the help

83yota

ok i said that i would give you all more info today so here it is. this is from Advance Adapters:

1. Motor Mounts- (weld in) $136.60
2. Headers- $204.90
3. Adapter for trans to t-case- $546.00
4. Trans- (ND4500) $2075.00

Now when i talked to Steve over there at AA he said that i could also use T-18, 435 or the ND4500 trans in this project. now all these parts are for this aplication. so they are all made to fit. now when i called Northwest offraod about keeping my stock trans this is the prices they gave me:

1. Ford to Toy trans (pt # 10014)- (bell housing, clutch, clutch fork) $667.95
2. Pressure plate (pt#10335)- $189.65
3. 164 Tooth Flywheel- $338.95

NwOr told me that i needed all these parts to do the conversion. but these are the 2 opptions i have so far.

WHITE_TRASH

The parts from NWOR is just to hook the ford to the yota trans.  They are forgetting that you will need a cruiser slave cylinder because the stock one will probobly be too weak.  NWOR's prices also seem a bit steep as well.
Full hydro, 186:1 with an auto and 44's what could go wrong??

he did not tell me that but yes on the prices i agree i dont think i will be going that way. thanks WT :beerchug:
