split rings for knuckles
« on: Feb 11, 2008, 09:39:06 PM »
Got my Marlin knuckle rebuild kit and it doesn't have the 2 split rings I need for the back side of the knuckles!  The one's that go on the knuckle before the rubber and the felt gaskets go on.  Stealership only sells them in "gasket kits" for $50!  :o

I thought all of these kits came with 2 of these things!  I checked Marlin's site and, sure enough, the rings aren't in the picture!  My bad....

Anyone got 2 extras??

I'm in Long Beach, CA if someone is local.  Happy to pay postage at this point.

My whole rebuild is stopped!!!!

I didn't get them in my Marlin rebuild kit, I just cleaned them and re-used them... did you throw yours away? Never throw stuff away until you are all done. :twocents:

My short side was missing when I bought the axle and the long side was thrashed.

I don't need the "rock rings".

I need the circular metal ring that has the slit in it that gets installed between the rubber wiper and the knuckle.  There's 1 on each side.

What sucks is these do come in that "other place's" knuckle rebuild kit.

I bought Marlins kit (same as All Pro's I think) because I wanted quality bearings...didn't realize these rings weren't included.  I just assumed these were in there.  It's not Marlins fault, it's just a different kit.

Now I just need to find a couple rings....someone out there has to have some extras....

Could always try calling Marlin or All Pro and see if they have any extra ones that they might be able to sell you.

when i bought my kit about a year ago it came with everything needed to rebuild knuckles. i guess it's changed since then. i don't know if it makes any difference that i got the kit with all the bearings and such though. hope you can find some soon i know how it feels to just have your truck sitting because of waiting on parts. i had my truck sitting for 2 or 3 weeks b/c i was waiting for a clutch and pressure plate. i couldn't drive it even if i hadn't already dropped the tranny and stuff though.
lets not and say we did.

As I said before, "My short side was missing when I bought the axle and the long side was thrashed."

All I had on the short side was the knuckle and the long side must have gotten caught on a rock or something because about 2" were missing.  Previous owner needed the parts for his other axle.
