Carb Problems
« on: Jan 30, 2008, 05:49:19 PM »
I recently installed an empi 32/36 carb. Now I am able to start the truck and I can rev it up and everything is fine but when I start to drive it has absolutely no power  but I can get it up to about 30 and when I shift in to 3rd it just sputters and just feels like it is out of gas.  I have to push in the clutch and wait a minute and then baby it home sputtering and backfiring.  I been looking on the forums for things that can be wrong and I know about the floats and the jets I don't know which one is more likely and not exactly sure how to do either.  Any help is appreciated.  Thanks

you need to tune the carb. bolting on a carb isnt jsut mechanical, it needs to be tuned on the vehicle. what is your timing currently set at?

I've read the Webers run at a lower fuel pressure than the stock carbs.  Here's a couple links I could find about it
http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=551725&highlight=weber+fuel+pressure

The pirate thread links to a weber page that led me here

good luck :beerchug:
