how do u adjust a carb(still having problems)

my question is how do adjust a carb to run leaner  i swapped out an 84 carbed motor that u spun a bearing in to a 86 carbed motor that i picked up complete  the carb on the 86 is running too rich and i have black smoke coming out i just need to know how to lean it out im just not sure what screw to touch 
any help would be great

there is a screw plug that hides it that needs to be drilled out.

how is the engine compression? black smoke usually means oil

blue is oil, black is fuel. X2 on the plug thingy.

chock not stuck?

float not sunk?

A/F not plugged?

Don't forget to check your choke, make sure it opens up all the way.

ok found the plug drilled it out   and still after playing with the screw for about an hour and a half   still smokes black    brand new a/f choke is fully open and as far as i can tell the floats good not sunk     has a rough idle seems like its loading up    and i thought   u trun the screw in  it lean it out   but just smoked even more   backed it back out   then gott better   but still smokes    and i have no idea what to do   meybe vac lines arnt hooked up right ??? i need ideas    everyone

black smoke is fuel.... blue is oil..... not too sure how to adjust on stock carb... i have always had stupid webers... good luck though

Probably should  rebuild the carb and see if that fixes it.

Check all of your vacuum hoses for cracks and leaks and also make sure there hooked up properly, check the aap diaphragm and also check your timing, all of these can cause the problems your having.

vac lines are good   timing is right on the money im just over this problem  i think im gonna take it to have the carb rebuilt next week
