Got a good pic of the hood with the flag? I'm thinking of making one of these and need some reference photos.

This is the best pic  I have of the hood.

Keep in mind those stripes are 25yrs old and faded. The silver is completely faded on the hood.

Thanks man. My advice is just go slow and take your time building your cage. I averaged about one bar per night after work.

I like to keep an exo as simple as possible, yet enough to save the cab in a rollover. I also remove the metal sleeves out of the body mount bushing so I could tighten them down to keep the cab from flexing on the frame. This allowed me to mount the exo as close as possible to the cab.
I don't like the looks of an exo that's about 6" away from the cab and has so many bars it looks like a jungle gym, but I like the protection of an exo vs. an internal cage.

Good luck, and post some pics when you're done.

The decals were put on by southeastern toyota distributors in 1982. I doubt that whoever made them is still around. I've tried for years to find them, but no luck.

Hey i love your truck! Its looks sweet. Hey do you have any close up pics of your tire groove job? I just got a groover and ide like some good ideas on what to cut..... Nice rig tho!!!                                    :beerchug:

I mounted the springs to the stock front hanger. This moved the wheel base back 6".

I cut off the stock rear hanger and welded it to the open end of the frame. Made some aluminum shackles.

With the very low lift and the axle rotated up, my driveshaft is up out of the way.

Here's my front springs. Notice how flat they are. Stock front springs, stock shackles, 39.5" tires. No rubbing.
This truck is amazingly stable with this spring setup.

Grooving the TSL's made a huge difference. The lugs are way too fat for a light weight toyota and they didn't grip good on a smooth surface. The grooving breaks up the fat part of the tread.

I highly recommend doing this.

I really like the tubing underneath the front fenders and also the tube front bumper.  It looks great.  It just flows so nicely

Thanks for the comments.

I tried to come up with some new ideas on this truck instead of the same old stuff. I think it turned out good, and there's a lot of stuff that's different than your typical toyota build. I've built a lot of toyota's and this is by far the cheapest one I've ever built, but it's probably my favorite also. Just goes to show that a decent rig can be built for cheap.

Did you make tabs to bolt down the front part of the fender?
