Guess I won't be drinking Starbucks anymore! ! !
« on: Dec 28, 2007, 02:56:22 PM »
Recently Marines in Iraq wrote to Starbucks because they wanted to
let them know how much they liked their coffees and to request that they
send some of it to the troops there. Starbucks replied, telling the Marines
thank you for their support of their business, but that Starbucks does not
support the war, nor anyone in it, and that they would not send the troops
their
brand of coffee.

So as not to offend Starbucks, maybe we should not support them by
buying any of their products! I feel we should get this out in the open. I
know this war might not be very popular with some folks, but that doesn't
mean we don't support the boys on the ground fighting street -to-street and
house-to-house.

If you feel the same as I do then pass this along , or you can
discard it and no one will never know.

Thanks very much for your support. I know you'll all be there again when I
deploy once more.

I don't go to Starbucks...because I stand up to pee, I don't like mochafrappeweenie...I like coffee and I can get it a Circle K. Also, being the curmudgeon that I am, I found a web site a few years ago (buyblue.com) that lists companies by which party they support...oddly enough Starbucks donates to the liberals. As in so many cases I vote with my dollars and don't support the companies or industries that support things I don't believe in.

EDIT: I've just been informed the address has a .org domain. The listings aren't up now.

I don't pay more than $1 for a cup of black coffee...  Why should I pay $2.50 for a cup of crap.  Starbuck's can't make a good cup of black coffee, without trying to sell me all the cream and sugar.  The looks on their faces when you ask for a cup of black coffee, tells me I'm in the wrong place.  ???

Our local Starbucks has pictures on the stickie board showing Starbucks coffee huts in Iraq.  Don't no if it had anything to do with the email going around though.  I find it hard to believe a company would do that but who knows.

its not true, I don't know how those things gets started but Starbucks is the not first one to be accused of being unpatriotic.

We've got a starbucks at the local Chapters book store.  I had to wait to meet a person for dinner, so figured I could grab some Books/Periodicals and kill sometime. I picked up a few fishing mags, bought a coffee( don't ask what it was, I could not even pronounce) sat down to wait. I was approached by one of the staff and asked to leave. Seems my material was offence to her and her coworker.  After talking to the manager, I was told that the employee was out of line and the manager was sorry.  After I sat back down, a women turned to me and said " You were told to leave I hope they call the police!"  I asked her if you had ever meet any of the local officers, to which she replied no.  I told her that if her and her friends wanted to cause trouble she was going to get to meet lots of the enforcement and court officers. She shut-up, my dinner date showed up and the coffee was crap. I will never go back, but not because of the trouble...the coffee was "crap".     :reg:

So...the were offended (at least one employee) by something they sold there?

What do you want to bet the employee has a "Godess" sticker on her vehicle.

I used to go into starchunks to get cinnoman rolls. then i found a nice beagel shop, havent been back since.

Id much rather use one of my old wheelin socks to filter my coffee and drink that, then to have starchunks coffee. problem is there are 5 starchunks within a 2 block radius of my work, so i just have to go without.

I dont drink coffee but if i did i wouldnt support starbucks. they are like a freakin' plague, we have two within spitting distance and another only about 2 miles away in our town. When my girlfriend worked there they treated her like :pokinit: and worked her like a slave. they would make her close on say a friday (so she was there until 11) and OPEN saturday (4am)

On top of the half hour drive home each way, they were allowing her like 2-3 hours of sleep each night. When she confronted them and said it was unfair, they told her "everyone has to do it, quit complaining"

I even looked up labor laws and since there is no starbucks union technically they are "allowed" to do that. i thought it was messed up. she quit shortly thereafter. i just dont like starbucks like I dont like walmart, they snuff out small bussiness and pop up in far too great of numbers. why does one town of 20,000 people need 3 starbucks??

Hey, I got one better!  We have roughly 4000 people in Tillamook, and we got three (3) starbuck's, and two of them are across the street from each other!   :screwy:
