So let me tell you all about my birfday.
First I went to work like any normal day.  I left a leetle early to grab my suitcase and my kitty and head to the airport.  Everything goes well until we get on the plane and they have to recalculate how much fuel we need due to weather concerns.  So now we are late leaving and I don't have much of a layover.
We get in to Atl. and I BOOK it across the entire airport cause, of course, my gates could not be close together.  Me and Johnny miss our connecting flight by 1 MINUTE!!!!!
Last flight out of the night no less.  So after I get done yelling at the gate agent I am forced to get in a HUGE line of other unfortunates in the same boat.
While in line I call the 800 number for Delta and and frantically push zero 6 dozen times until the recorded voice actually gets upset and apologizes to me and connects me to a human. 
So there I stand in this ginormous line and I am GOING OFF on the Delta agent.
Johnny stayed in the Crown Plaza last night in Atl.  It was REALLY nice.  We got there at about 10:30, went to our room courtesy of Delta and I left him so that I could begin my mission from god.  11:00 PM, surrounded by hotels, no stores, couple gas stations...I NEED A LITTER BOX!!  And some cat food.
After walking around the area for an hour the nice Indian guy at the gas station was able to save the day.  Came up with a good box I could use and I purchased a newspaper to shred.  They also had a couple 50 year old cans of cat food.  Score one for the good guys.

4 hours of sleep later I spent 2 hours in line in the Atl. airport this morning nearly missing my flight out at 7:10 because Delt has a line backed up out the door at 5AM and can only field 2.5 people to work the computers and sort out all the ticket stuff.  This wouldn't have been a problem if I could have used the self check in kiosk but it told me I needed to see the agent at the counter.  Stupid cause I waited over an hour for her to hand me the same ticket the kiosk could have spit out at me.  Course then it was on to the security.  When I got there all I saw was a sea of people.  Couldn't even see the detectors, just PEOPLE!!!  Well, we made it with moments to spare and the CT is back in CT.

I am giving up on birthdays...crappy birthday to me.

  Dude, Atl airport sucks big donkey bawlz.    Wife and I were there back in march and the same thing happened to us those dip  's at Delta don't know how to schedule a flight to save their lives.    Almost every flight we took that trip was late. We will never fly Delta again cause they did this to us twice on the same trip in Atl. (going and coming back)  .

Thanks everyone.  My mom came up to my grandparent's and we had a cake.  They sang and everything.  It was lovely.

Johnny turned 8 yesterday.  He weighed in last week at 14.5 pounds.  Try lugging that through the airports for two days!

  Johnny is at least a couple pounds heavier then Tinydog! Sorry your trip was so horrible! That really sucks, it's bad enough having to deal with it yourself but poor Johnny had no idea what was going on!
I sure hope your trip back goes a lot more smoothly.

i cant imagine why  you would have to go thru atlanta  to  go from Wichita  to CT

Yup, I either have to got thru atl, detroit, dallas, or chicago.  None of these is a very lovely choice.  Atl is USUALLY the easiest...

Last time on Delta I went through Atl. didn't have to do a plane change but as I was sitting there waiting the attendant came and asked if I planned on getting off in Atl. I told her no I was going to LA. She said that's not what the log says so I showed her my ticket, I sat there for another minute then thought if they thought I was only going to Atl. where's my luggage going. I had about 15min before the flight left so I jumped up and ran to baggage and sure enought my luggage wasn't going to LA either.
