I am guessing that front housing is a stock cruser with a fj-60 diff....  well it has both a stearing stabiliser and a ram.... and so on....

I am very interested in the knuckles on this front axle. What do they come off of, do you have any pictures of the arm on top of the passenger side for the draglink, And where do the bottom arms come from.

Very nice thread. It's always cool seeing the iceland crawlers.

I havenīt thought off that till now. The thing is that I have only seen this truck once, and havenīt given it a much thought, itīs modified by this local shop,  what I could tell from the picks that I took, this housing is probably from a fj-60 at least the diff is, the arm under the housing is probably stock and the arm on the left side is probably stock also, this has been done on some trucks here, if this would be a hilux housing they would take the stock arm and the j-arm  and bolt them under the housing, just cut the j part off......    the arm on top of the housing looks like itīs made by this local guy. or it might be made by the shop that modified the truck...

I am not as pleased with the modifications when I looked now ower the pics, as when I saw the truck... or I guess itīs easy  to judge the work of others.... next time I am close   I will definitely stop by and kick the tires and so on....

I don't know what your problems are the little guy seems to have it all figured out.   :cheese:
YOU ONLY NEED TWO TOOLS IN LIFE - WD-40 AND DUCT TAPE. IF IT DOESN'T MOVE
AND SHOULD, USE THE WD-40. IF IT SHOULDN'T MOVE AND DOES, USE THE DUCT TAPE.

IF YOU CAN'T FIX IT WITH A HAMMER, YOU HAVE AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM.

Solid axle + coils is awesome. Is that stock? What year is the HiRunner?

sorry about the late reply...  the HiRunner is a home made 4runner... itīs a 4runner body sitting on a hilux frame. = hi - runner...   it has sold axles and coil overs. landcruiser links on the front and a 3 linked rear. Itīs sitting on 39,5" trxus and has arbs and duals 2.28x2.28 probably a lot more stuff but kinda just  :blah: :blah:

Very nice thread. It's always cool seeing the iceland crawlers.

the knuckle is probably a stock fj-80.
the links are stock fj-80... the one thing different is that they have fitted a 9,5" fj-60 diff(center) into that housing.  or the whoule housing is a fj-60 at least it has the fj-80 links...  The differense is that the fj-80 has a 8" high pinion diff. but the fj-60 has a 9,5" normal (low pinion) diff... now heīs using the low pinion diff so the steering and drag links both has to be lockadet in front of the housing.
the arm on top of that passenger side knuckle is a arm made by this local guy here...  the hier link (drag link) is close to level with the pitman arm but the lower link  (steering link) is in level with the stock arm  = usually made from a j-arn that has the j part removed. ... I hope that clarifies some of your thoughts.

Yes you do, you must be very proud. :)

Thats a wide wheel....  holy heck!  I've been thinking about a set of 44x21" sts's on 14" wide wheels with add on beadlocks for the snow.  How do your tires work compared to the radial gumbo mudders?

that would probably bee a good setup.   these wheels are probably 15" wide... with the beadlock the mount up to 16,25" the thing about that with, is I believe that our 4x4 culture is going in circles I have been spying around a lot this winter. and there are wheels from 15" - 18" in use for the 44" cepecs.
If I find a old set of wheels with 44" sitting on them they are 15" maybe 16". and a few years back when peoble starting fitting the beadlocks rings on those rims it gains up to 15+1.25=16.25 and 17.25.... also if I talk to shops here in Reykjavik = light snowy winters. They would recommend 15-16" not more cause of all the normal street driving. but if we talk to the guyīs living at the far east side of iceland the would recommend 17+ wheels but theyr winter driving is much more loose snow...

I donīt think that the difference in wheel with sets the bar for me. I choose that with cause I know they will look good under my truck. I dropped the with versus gain in offroad use thought quickly cause one of my friends told me, you could have the same truck driven by 2 persons and have a total different outcome...
the same applies about the 38 mudder versus the 44 cepecs. the + and - of it all are iffy.... with the bigger tires and wheels I will have more strain on the truck bearings, engine, trans, housings... the gain is much more float, in the snow. and when the 44" are deflated and running in the snow you can drive a Little faster also cause the tires will bounce a Little more and eat up the terrain than the 38".
This is just a test for me. I had the wheels made, I have the 44" I might sell them next winter if I ain't happy. that is if the + of the 44" don't add up enough when compared to the 38".

18" wide!?  You guys have a lot in common with those weirdo's in florida and hawaii that use crazy wide wheels.  Only difference is you guys do it for function, they do it to look retarded....  :hahaha:

I like that ring that goes between the inner and outer beadlock ring.  What is it made of, plastic?

Trust me I know all about the balancing act with big tires....  I'm running 42" tsl's on the truck now, it makes things WAAAAY easier but I have to be careful not to get crazy of things will start to explode.

that ring is made of plastic. and is supposed to center the tire on the wheel... I thought it was supposed to act as a spacer or shim, so that it would be easyer to tighten the bolts.

I think your right on both accounts Bazzi.  My stolen longfield locks had a "anti coning" ring welded to the inside ring to kep the outer ring from bending in too much.  They centered on the bolts nicely too.  I sure wish someone could get those locks over here as a kit, it looks like a nicely thought out system.

Thats one thing I'm worried about with my setup.  I run IFS hubs and 1 1/2" spacers with 42's...  That is a lot of leverage on those little studs...

Nice pics dude!
Full hydro, 186:1 with an auto and 44's what could go wrong??

I was always afraid of the original wheel studs... What I am afraid of is. that usually I tighten the lug nuts ewery now and then. when I am running those spacers itīs hard to do so. I am thinking about removing all the spacers next time I have a wheel off. thighten them again with some bolt glue and tighten the bolt up to the original specs....
