Greenhorn December 15th
« on: Dec 11, 2007, 07:50:45 PM »
Anyone want to go to Greenhorn Saturday December 15th?   :hyper:

I am located in Roseville and will be heading out early with about 3 other rigs.  If anyone wants to meet up off of Pleasant Grove let me know.  Also if we need to stop for anyone along the way we will.  I am thinking about leaving here around 8 or so.

I have never been there and neither has anyone else I am with so we would love if someone that knows the area joins.

Anyone that wants to meet up just PM me and I will swap numbers with you.  If anyone needs some fine tuning with their rigs around the area before I am more then willing to help and have a big garage to help as well.

I have been to a few places but not really a trail so I am looking forward to testing out the beast!

Greenhorn is more of a gravel pit than trails, it is river bed.  You do have hill climbs and short trails that wrap around, but nothing long.  You can usually spend a few hours messing around, you should have some fun.  Also be careful when on the far side, there are blind drop offs.  You should pm Austin W , he was suppposed to beheading there last weekend.  Fortysixandtwo also seems to be familar w/the area, it has been a while since I was up there other than a short trip testing out the new arb and dual cases this past summer.

Yea well I am just psyched to go to a new place.  Can you PM me your number and I will call you Friday afternoon. Directions would be awsome as well, I am coming from Sacramento.

Went to Prairie City today and I guess since yesterday everyone else had problems it was now my turn; I broke my rear driver's axle. Nope it is not a full floater so we had to rig it up to get it out.

We used the bar from the hi-lift ran straps to the shackles, and greased up the sidewalls so it would spin on the tire and hold the axle in.  Believe it or not it worked well!!!  Good thing my spare is a TSL and has a smooth sidewall.  I run boggers on the rig and they if I tried it on that it would not work.

I broke my axle shortly after this...

Hahah nice!! Yup it was your turn to break

Nice fix though that is awesome. I saw a guy do that once with a large log but i think I would prefer to use the hi lift :)

I am down for prarie city next weekend. We are trying to get my buddy's 85 pick up on the road, we are about 75% done with the engine install but with break in and everything he probably wont be able to wheel it for a few weeks. if no one else comes I will be there for sure  :yesnod:

Blingn, I dont think so.  We went with 4 rigs including myself and 3 of the rigs ran into problems.

Kevin just sent me some of the pics he had...

First problem before we even got to the trail:

This is when the 3rd problem happened; Glen's axle broke.  No pictures of the 2nd problem when Kevin's alternator bolts came out since everyone was chowing down!

Damn this hill was slippery as :censored:

You can see my rear tire got stuck in the rut and my front was coming up.  This could have been a potential big problem!!!!   :jawdrop:

I need to read a manual to lock them? lol  So I found these neat autolocking hubs and installed them. Sometimes they dont stay locked while I am backing up, but that's fine because I dont have a backup camera to see where Im going (like our RV) so I just simply dont ever back up"- BigMike
