Totaled my 85 RIP
« on: Nov 28, 2007, 05:48:37 PM »
My brother in law and me were coming down from the hills in molalla kinda by dickie prarie along the river. I wasnt excepting such a sharp ass turn, it was an unmarked corner to by the way, with no gaurd rail. And I went off the cliff. straight off. And right where i went off there a 2 crosses, where 2 people died last year going off the same corner. Luckily we came out unharmed, god only knows how.

Im gonna take my running gear and motor out, and part out what i can. and take the dosy and frame in for scrape. then buy a donor rig and start from the ground up on a new project.  The frame twisted on both sides, so Im pretty much gotta start from scratch.
When in doubt, throttle out!!!

You were in a Toyota. Sounds like a lawsuit to me, that should be marked so people are aware of the danger. Just this week San Clemente settled out of court on an incident that occured twice at the same location. They didn't do anything to correct the situation after the 1st time so they were going to get burned.

"Later, I learned that even though I engage 4WD my hubs are not automatically locking? Something about manual locking hubs I think. What's manual mean? I need to read a manual to lock them? lol  So I found these neat autolocking hubs and installed them. Sometimes they dont stay locked while I am backing up, but that's fine because I dont have a backup camera to see where Im going (like our RV) so I just simply dont ever back up"- BigMike

Holy :pokinit:, good to hear you guys made it out unscathed. Looks like you went for a hell of a ride  :yikes:

Important thing is you made it out okay. I think you should make sure that corner gets marked at the least because that sounds sketchy and obviously you arent the only one who has fallen victim to it.

Somebody was watching out for you two.  Another reason I've been thinking about a internal cage.  I hate exo's, especially if I'm not gonna do extreme stuff.  Most of mine is gonna be trail stuff and some TSF.  But you guys are lucky.  That was a killer looking truck.    :inthedark:
