New to the toyota thing, my friend had plans for this truck but ran out of money very quickly. He gutted it, caged the cab, lifted the front w/ freebee superlift springs to fit 32" Muds, then sold it to me for next to nothing not running with no glass. So far R&R the 22R, finished some welding on cage, reinstalled the HVAC and dash, switched to power steering (what a relief to drive), got glass and harnesses and fixed all leaks. Currently looking into buying welder, hobart 187 or 210 both 220 V, anyone with experience w/ these please let me know if the 187 will be enough. Then 4" marlin lift, temp lunchbox in the rear till I can afford Detroit and switch the rear to the front. I'm here for the support-got engaged, trying to save for a house down payment and need motivation to do this in the next year or it will never happen. Oh yeah and I'm ready for the abuse-I'm a tech at a Chrysler Jeep dealer so I understand the Jeep thing........well some of the jeep things, (anybody ever drive an 11 second jeep Grand?) I could go on and on and on about that............what can I say though? Toyotas kick a** would like to post some pics on the page, but here are 2 links...    http://viewmorepics.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=viewImage&friendID=155665937&albumID=1214712&imageID=11056945

Yeah like I said, if I can just bring myself to spend the money i'll buy a welder, then 4" marlin lift and lockright or aussie for the rear. Of course that means i'll need tires, thinking 35" MTRs, and some diff armor, and bumpers and a winch and gears........and..........and....I just don't know where I'm going to stop if I get going

:welcome:   Nice looking in cab cage. Is it removeable or permanent ? Clean looking truck.
Nothing puts a smlie on my face like the green glow of 4x4 on the dash !

Peet85

Only removable w/ a torch & a half dozen cutoff wheels. It's stout, probably even overengineered for a rock crawler, just a little noisey, but I'm working on that

Peet85

Oh yeah I was gonna ask, thinking about longer shackles on the rear as a small temp. lift, this gonna screw up my pinion angle enough to cause a vibration prob? I'd rather not cut the perches off till I'm ready to do the whole thing right.

Does the cage make noise around where it goes through the dash?  That is very clean!  Welcome to the site!

Peet85

It's makin noise at the back upper corners, tubes almost touch the roof so a good bump makes some noise, the main tubing is something like 2 or 2 1/4", so its tucked as far up as possible. also the top tubes come out the back of the cab and the holes aren't quite big enough. I spaced the top tubes with a piece of radiator hose, helped a little and need to figure a semi clean way to cut the holes in back just a little bigger. All I've got at work is a torch, a cutoff tool or an air hammer, so I'm leaving it be till I get a dremmel tool or something. The roof does have some rust, maybe I shouldn't be worried about cutting a few holes, but I just can't quite bring myself to..............

Wow, been looking at my 4Runner rust away too long, need some inspiration and here I will find it...!
