So where is the Soggy Dry Lake bed in relation to Means?  :dunno: I usually take the 10 east to the 62 into Yucca and the the 247 east. Is Soggy west of Means?

Yes west, think the name of the road is Bessmer mine road

No the road is Bessemer Mine Road for Soggy Dry Lake not Green Rock Mine Road. It is west of Boone Road which is the road for Means Dry Lake. They are about 10 miles apart.

Oh, 'cause I take Green Rock Mine road to get to Riffel Canyon that exits into Crowbar. I thought Bessemer took you to the competition area. I really need to spend more time exploring that area. Coming from the west is it Bessemer, Green Rock, Boone?

Coming from the west it is Camp Rock Road, Green Rock Mine Road, Bessemer Mine Road, Boone Road.  Bessemer Mine Road is only a few hundred feet east of Green Rock Mine Road.  We camp at Soggy Dry Lake, so Bessemer Mine Road works the best for us, even though Green Rock Mine Road is more direct to the Fry Mountain trails.  Also, Green Rock Mine Road is not an "Official"  Johnson Valley OHV Area access road according to the BLM.  I think that they frown on the other access roads because of traffic and dust for residents.

As for the comp area, you probably mean Cougar Buttes.  That is off of Camp Rock Road.

It's nice to have a concise explanation of the roads in and where they go. I usually come in from Yucca Valley and never make it past Boone Road. Unless it's at night and I inadvertently sail past it. :hammer:

When I was working on Riffel we came in, from the west, turning in on Green probably because it was the first access road to the Fry's. I didn't know about the 'official' roads in. I could see how the crackhouses would be nervous with increased vehicle travel on the roads.  :gap:

And yes, I was thinking of Cougar Buttes. I knew it was a ways past Boone Road coming from Landers, but I've only been out there a couple times.

Thanks for the schooling TurtleTruck. :beerchug:
