So I really dont have the money to buy a really nice rig and I would like to keep it yota.. deff dont have the money for that new dually. but what about the older yota dually? I only need to tow one rig and if I could fit it on the flat bed that would be great. would I need to get something else besides that 3.0 and any other considerations? It will be only for towing my truck and I like the size because I live in a apt.

something like this theirs all diffrent variations motorhomes, box vans, flat beds, boxed work trucks but the main concept is t100 style (newer models) dually with a v6

just some ideas also a trailer mabey goosneck is also an option.

Those trucks won't carry a truck on the back.  way too much weight for them.  They most likely won't be able to pull a truck physically or safely either.

you would be better off with a full size 1/2 ton over the yota

red

your gonna need a fullsize 1/2ton truck or suv. if you want a flatbed type vehicle that is strong enough to carry a truck in the bed your looking for something 1 ton or heavier. if its gonna be on a trailer, a fullsize 1/2 ton will do it. in the toyota lineup a t100, tudra, land cruiser, or sequoia.

I think if you swapped out the engine, trans, and rear axle you could flat-tow with one of those. I've considered getting a Toyota mh and doing that, but then why when you could just buy a Chevy mh ready to go.

Well up till the last few years Toyota has not been known for their towing ability (still not so much) you are really better off getting a 1/2 ton domestic truck our SUV. t100 does not tow so well, tundra little low on power for pulling hills with a trailer and a truck, land cruiser or sequoia not so low budget. These days u can get a late 90's fuel injected 1/2 ton V8 domestic for fairly cheep and have a pretty good tow rig. Or go back to the 70's era trucks with a carb and build them like mad for cheep. Either way as far as towing on the cheep...Toyota is not really an option.

red

if you want a cheap reliable tow rig go with a 70's-80's era chevy/gmc. parts are dirt cheap, power upgrades are everywhere and much cheaper than most other brands.

I used to tow my Willys with my 80 Toyota truck, got slow uphill sometimes but I never had an issue. I also used to tow 2 Seadoo's with my 84, and I had a cab-over camper on top of that. I towed an 18' travel trailer with my 86 4Runner with no issues either.

i dont know how you did that. i had a hard time towing my motorcycle on a trailer with my 87 4runner, would never even consider towing a car hauler with it. too unsafe.

there is 1 time towing a car on a flatbed is ok... its called a flatbed tow truck...

jsut for giggles, how would you even get a car up onto an 8 foot flatbed? cars are much longer than 8 feet, and would you use ramps? those load ramps and that gvwr on the axle would have to be super strong.... flatbed trucks usually have a 1 ton axle at most.....

On top of that they all had about 6 inches of lift and 33's, I ran 4:88's in the 4Runner, 4:30's in the 80 and 4:10's in the 84.

theres other vehicles that can do it, a duece and a half for example haha (military flatbed). i know where a BUNCH of those are out here, along with 5 running half tracks and a couple of other military vehicles. i've seen 3 willy's jeeps back there, one that the guy wont get rid of.

towing a lighter vehicle flat tow or on a trailer behind something is one thing, actually puttign a vehicle in the bed of another is another....

those duece and a hlfs are not toyota pickup trucks, or any other pickup truck for that matter, those are purpose built class B minimum vehicles with gear able to support that

I have a 2.5K lbs tent trailer I tow with my 83, 22R. truck comes in at 4350lbs
when I drive it over the scales. so with the trailer, try to keep it @ 2K for long trips.
that makes for 6350lbs before I add kids, dogs, gas, camping stuff, vcr, campershell,
wood, wifie, me, dog food and 17 gln resv. gas tank. never ran it over the scales like that. butt bet it's over 7K
A good day working, that's just sick :reg:

I wish I would've gotten a pic of me pulling the Bobcat with my 93. Just the truck and trailer weighed 6700 coming out of the dump. Then went and picked up the bobcat! No acceleration, but it got it and me there and back!

Dont have any pics but I have hauled 3 round bails of hay on a 16' trailer so many times I cant count with my 85 mini with out any problems.. 3 bails @ 2000#ea + 1200# trailer = 7200#s on the hook. No mountian climbing but we got some steep hills around. Normal trip with that load is about 20 miles at 55MPH.
