Definately a bad move but in all those dudes' defence,it's a natural reaction.I SERIOUSLY doubt that for even a second a person thinks they can hold up a vehicle  :shake: ,it's just a reaction.I have a picture of a buddy of mine on our first real "official" run about 9 years ago,he was coming up this gnarly hill and at the very top it would throw your vehicle towards the driver's side and damn near put you on your side(quite a few vehicles flopped there that weekend),anyway,I managed to take the picture right as it was gonna go over and he stuck his arm out  :shake: .We laughed at that all weekend and every now and then I come across the picture it still makes me laugh a little,he brought his arm back in right away and to this day he still says "Ha Ha,what the hell was I thinking?".It's just a reaction, kinda like when you're riding a bike and you're gonna fall over.

I know its a natural reaction kinda like locking your arms and legs when you think your going to rearend someone...  But its still dumb and if any of you catch me doing that and get away with that please break my arm/leg anyways just to teach me......  LOL

This last summer we ran in to a guy with a compound fracture of his forearm when we were near Little Sluice. The guy actually refused the lifeflight heli that was in the air about 5 minutes away. Needless to say the Rangers that called it in were not happy. The guy said he would walk out but later we found out he spent the night. I tell you if it was me, I would be on my way to get that cleaned up before I got a bone infection. Some gal there was all over him and we also found out she just showed up there. Seemed like she was a girlfriend at the time. She was medically trained or something and she was the one that convinced him to stay. Just too weird for me.

It is dumb but a natural reaction to falling, if you have time your reaction should be to just cross your arms over your chest.

true its just reactions, but bring your body parts back inside the vehicle before you get them crushed by your rolling rig.

I know its a common reaction but is it just me that when i start to tip I lean the other way and grab onto something...  I dont know maybe its the motorcyclist in me but I always lean the opposite way hoping that in some way my bug butt will return balance to the opposite side of the rig.

I've caught myself doing it a few times too...You have to train yourself to keep your hands inside..its just natural instinct/reaction to hold out your arm to catch yourself if you are falling over

well all i have 2 say is

my old Honda 3wheeler and old 200 ATV  I use 2 put my foot down all the time   it was appropriate

now my new Honda 650    i have found myself a couple of time doing the same thing ( not smart at all [ self idiot award] )  almost smashed a foot

now granted thats a ATV

But why would you do it in a jeep/ full size vehicle.     If your in the sport  and you know you can roll  maybe i should have a plan in case of a roll over.
1. both hand on the steering wheel.
2. place both feet firmly in opposite direction on the floor.
3. lean away from the roll.
4 do not jump out (well unless theres a 50 foot dropoff)  or grab outer ROPS

now maybe it's just me   do 2 the fact we have safety training at work.  PPE  riging blocking  and so on.

but the guy did it not once  but twice
