I ordered mine last Sunday, so it shipped on Monday, and got here Yesturday. It took a week for mine. They originally told me last Friday was the delivery date, so when I found out that wasn't happening I was kind of disappointed. I wanted to get it done last weekend.

that sounds pretty good to me, if LC shipped it the next day then i kinda sounds like the courier was lagging.  I can understand the wanting to do it on a certain weekend thought.

Sexy header!

Problems!
I don't know if he has realized this is only a four cylinder but...
1. I talked to the guy that is bending me up the kit (custom exhaust is his thing, he has been doing it for decades), and he only has the oval magnaflows in stock. Any difference from round?
2. Says Magnaflow is for cat equiped vehicles only. He claims that he was running dynomax ( ) mufflers on his truck with no cats, and it worked great. Switched to magnaflows and it ran like crap. He said he lost 30 hp, which I HIGHLY doubt. He suggests something other than magnaflows if running no cat.
3. He suggested flowmasters. From what I have heard, they are loud, and poor quality compared to magnaflow. (watch the :pokinit: start to fly)
4. I hate this crappy computer, especially the keyboard. My laptop got infected with a virus, so I refuse to use it until it is fixed. I put McAfee on it, but it didn't fix the problem. Suggestions?

Please help! I want to get this done, but I can't do anything until I figure out what to do about the testpipe back. :help:

nice, but I want quiet. I want performance, but not loud performance. I want nice toned , mellow performance with very little resonence. Magnaflow seems to be what people like, but I don't know how loud it is. Keep the comments coming people! Like I have said before, I only want to do exhaust once.

huh?  thats alot to ask.  IMO, the flowmaster is built better than the magnaflow.  Yes, I know, you all will disagree, but it is so much more heavy duty than the magnaflow.  Some claim that it is weak because the chambers are spot welded, but they are more of a short bead, and nothing to worry about.  No, they arent stainless, but thats what paint is for.  And they sound alot better I think.  When you pick the 2 up in your hands, the flowmaster just feels more heavier duty.  I stood on mine and it didnt even budge, even stomped on it a little just to see how strong it was.  I have personally seen a magnaflow blow out also.
Go to the magnaflow website, I remember reading something about the difference between to oval and round cases.  I think it was in the FAQ???  I believe there is no difference, but I could be wrong.  The 30 hp he may be talking about is probably on a big block or something.
After having just gone through this whole experience myself this past year, I think you are overthinking it.  I couldnt decide between the magna and the flow, but loooking back, its not as big of a deal as you may think.  No matter what, you'll probably be happy with what you get.

That guy's smoking crack.  Magnaflows are pretty much straight through, you're not going to lose 30hp running them unless you're pushing an asspile of horsepower already and necked it waaaay down.

thats what i was running before my header 2.25 with hi flow magnaflpw cat and the round straight through design, go with the 2.25 it seems to have perfect back pressure, and it sounds great, not super loud unless you wind it up

Yea, the "30 HP" was on his 454 tow rig. He has alot of huge engine beasts, so I don't know if he even knows what will work on a little four banger. I will check on the magnaflow site to see if there is a difference. Other ideas or comments? Post up!

EDIT: Supposedly no sound difference between oval and round, just shaped different for fitment issues.

Anyone running a flowmaster 60 series?

On flowmasters site it says that it is the one designed for smaller engines.

And I quote:

The 60 Series Performance muffler is designed specifically to bring Flowmaster performance to smaller cars and trucks with small displacement 4 and 6 cylinder engines. All 60 Series mufflers feature Delta Flow technology for increased torque, horsepower and reduced interior resonance.

Application Recommendations:
HighPerformance Street/Strip applications
Small Displacement 4 and 6 Cylinder vehicles
Sport Compact

I will probably talk to the exhaust guy hopefully Friday, if not then later. I wil see what he says, and find out what he thinks I should use. I kind of want to try the 60 series though. If it doesn't work, I can always make a magnaflow fit and sell the flowmaster to some kid at school for $100.
