Yeah, I'd be patient.  It looks like the new Aussie is the way to go.

i know I'll probably take some heat for this, but if your going to run 33 or 31 inch tires, is a v6 diff really that much better?? I know it's more $$$. i called the junk yard for a v6 rear axle and they wanted $450. i have spare 4 cylinder diffs but I'd have to pay a lot more to go the v6 route.  Unless you already had the v6 axle, and then it would be cool to have the Aussie locker option.

well i doubt you really need one for the rear but for the front v6 housing/hp gears will def be worth it...but for no other reason people like to overbuild for piece of mind

but to me the v6 rp looks more beefier then the 4cyle r/p.

think I'm going to regear and install a locker in the diff i have now. but if a v6 diff comes around for the right $$$ I'm sure I'll grab it. then I'll be saying, "when they going to make them v6 aussie lockers".

i'm pretty sure the only thing different from the v6 and i4 diffs are the 3rd members and...beefier housing/gear set

I take it the Aussie is the way to go since the mere mention of the aussie locker gets this topic 300 veiws. Yeah theyre cheap and reliable from what ive heard so ill definately be going that route with my build. Quick question, how much abuse can the factory birf really take? I think ill run the stock stuff till i save up some moolah. Thanks

Depends on what you are running and how you drive. Generally, up to 37s with an open front dif and you are good to go as long as you dont excessivly hammer down when you wheel. Then again I have a friend who has been running 39.5s on stock axles for over a year. He doesnt beat his truck and so far they have held up. If you are running a front locker though it is largly inevitable that you will break a stock birf. Conservative use of the gas pedal is the key to birf longevity. Then again, there is the old saying "A birf will break when it wants to break"

Best bet is that if you have 37+ inch tires and a front locker, stronger axleshafts are a wise investment.

v6 aussie solution.   Have some sleaves made for a 4 cylinder carrier to fit the v6 bearings.  Install Aussie locker and install in v6 third member.   I've read Inchworm has made the sleaves.

Are aussies any different than a lockright?  The look pretty close to the same in pics I've seen.
It takes a long time to achieve "instant" success.

aussie lockers are a great buy for the money. do it.

i have some bad news though...marlin only makes sas kits in 4,5 and 6 inch kits

are the 4,5,6 in. lift kits actually that much lift, i had the idea that there was 1.5 extra lift due to the front spring hanger thus making it 5.5, 6.5, 7.5? correct me if im wrong. i am also considering SASing to fit 33s or 35s. i dont plan on trimming and want just enough room for flex. what kit do i need :eyebrow:

well, I live in NJ and have the  Marlin 5inch SAS rollin on 37
's. I never went through the tilt test and have never gotten pulled over, yet. My brother in law has an f-350 with an 8 inch lift with 39's and never gets messed with. So I wouldn't be to worried about it.

Yeah I decided to swap my v6 third member into my front axle and put the 4 cylinder front third member in my rear axle so I can run the aussie.

   where do u go for inspetion TT  not the state

there is a place down there in  Manahawkin off of RT 72 some place for the state tilt test, but I am not gonna go through that crap unless I absolutely have to. I got my truck inspected before I lifted it so I had a good sticker. Now its due in Feb. again so it might get turned into a trailer queen if I cant get it inspected at this place in Newark.
