i dig.... did you have a choice of having the white letters out on the tires? or were they on the chromies already?

i hate white out personally. they get dirty and then look like crap lol

did sombody say they didn't like white letters...

Sorry, i've been holding out on you guys. the truck has about 3000 kms on it now and is still running fine, With a leak hear and a leak there to fix lol. gotta fix the valve cover leak at the next. it used to leak at the back and i thought i had blown my rear main seal again. i also found my timing to be too far retarded and advanceing it made it wayyyy more peppy, but with the cam in it you can't advance it untill it pings and then back it off and have it set perfect. it need to be slightly more retarded to have its punch between idle-3000. i also cut the trailer hitch off the bottom of my uber sweet schmittybilt bumper. Got my exhaust on with a stainless tip off a cavilier z24 i think. looks alright, its 2.5" i didn't want a huge 3" tip :stopit: and i didn't want a rusty pipe where everybody could see it :hammer:.

i still have to get tow hooks off my parts trucks before i go wheeling to much. but i have been playing around a bit. as for the bfg's, got the whole set(4) for $150 i figure they will last me long enough untill i can afford new tires or I need bigger ones. 2 facts, i didn't balance the michilins or the bfgs and have no vibs at all, i cruise on the highway at 100-110 (60-65) or atleast thats what my spedo says. my web wheel experience says i sould be bouncing around and haging on to the wheel with a death grip lol wtf. and whoever thinks bfg's have bad road noise or are loud is a girl thingy lol. I have to turn the radio down (i only have the 2 little dash speakers) and hang my head out the window to hear them.

sorry those are the only pics for now i have to go to work. i wanted to wait untill I could get a vid. but that was a while ago lol. figured i should give you guys an update.

SolidAxle

heres a little updater for you, i have no time to type so heres some pics to look at.

Okay, now that I'm off work and have the time to add some details I will. First off I decided to put my locker in because i had my injectors out (rubber seals swelled and leaked gas). The 4 nuts on each side were fairly easy to take off, a pleasant surprise, and the third came out easily. the disassemble was easy because I've done it before and was familiar with drilling the hole where the pin goes etc. putting it in was the same deal with a little more caution. now putting it back in the truck was where it heads downhill. I had gotten everything i may have needed even a new tissue paper diff gasket from Toyota (i work there ). put goop on the gasket and the diff slid in pretty easily considering its quite heavy and I'm quite skinny. the breaklines were a pain and i actually ended up stripping all the threads out of my newer wheel cylinder. (only after trying to get it to thread in for an hour of course lol) so i go to the parts store (i work there too  :cheese:) and got a new one. of course by this time i had to go to work because part time jobs suck. so that night i get the diff in and everything hooked up and then i decide to grab the pinion flange and rotate it  :yikes: i crap my pants because it feels like i have .999 backlash so i rip it all apart to check it.  :maddest: what the hell its fine. so i stab a spare axle into the diff and with a little leverage from some Chanel locks determine that the locker is rotating slightly. I think to myself "Is this normal, I dunno" so i search this board, pirate, google everywhere but nobody seems to have posted anything like this, Aussie is closed and i have to wait to the next morning to call their help line. So that morning i call  and a women answers and i ask her about tech support and she says that nobody is there right now but takes my information. so i wait and i search and i wait until i get impatient and call back and get a guy and i ask him, he says yes its normal and i should get a long life out of my locker  :circle: yay. so now i have to put it all back together and i ripped my tissue paper diff gasket but leave it on and goop some more ultra black on it break a diff stud (the only one thats longer than the others)go the the parts store bring back the  :puke: wheel cylinder and get a stud extractor. then i steal one of the studs out of my front housing and  put it all back together nicely. Get my brakelines on and everything do the clicky test, it works  :circle: yay. and so now before work i still have to put my injectors in and put it all back to gether... because the bus is for suckers :talkingn: Doing the injectors was a cake walk because I've taken my intake ind stuff off a whole bunch of times, but its getting pretty close to work time, and i suddenly remember i still have to bleed the rear brakes :nerv: nobody else is home so i try out the gravity bleeding method and well it works. Haven't had to touch them since. AND i made it to work on time, and of course even the mechanics make fun of my dirty stained hands (seriously one guy harasses me about wearing gloves) .

So HO KID, the backlash thingy is normal if you come across it when you put yours in.

I put my locker in actually quite some time ago.

More recently i have, put on front tow hooks, gas tank skidplate, replaced TPS, fixed dash lights, installed oil pressure gauge. replaced rear shackle bushings (not fun), gave dad my old Michelin's and stole 2 of his old bfg At's as spares, removed mudflaps (have 3 holes at each wheel, but going to weld them up, need fancy paint though  :stopit:)  and in the near future to do list I am.
welding up said holes,
fixing my trucks gangster lean, because i think both springs on the front are the same and the perches are different heights.
getting floppy mudflaps.
getting vinyl floor
GOING WHEELING (seriously i didn't want to be the :pokinit:ty guy out of the group so i had to add alot of minor stuff so i don't break/ cause a large inconvenience that should only be a small one.) should be going sunday/Monday coming up to some washouts. its like crawling on dirt where water has washed it out into a sort of uphill trench, I guess a little like where the TDS is held. and you will see more on the creekbed in the future, its on my Nana's property schwing.

More PICS

I know my steady hand in theses videos amazes many, just for sound. my setup is lce header 2 1/4 exhaust magnaflow cat and magnaflow 11225 wide open muffler lol not even the street series or whatever. Its not quiet, maybe a little obnoxious at times.

Thanks, i think i'm going to try to keep it clean and kinda like big mikes truck, full bed. when i saw what he could do at the hammers with such little body damage i figured i'd leave mine alone. I'd also like it because i can sleep in it and it will help if I want to go to an MCR or a trip to moab or somthing becuase i can fit lots of stuff.

I love the allpro flat bed, theres one on pirate with just slightly sloped sides (hard to explain) but i came to realize i only like flatbeds on 3rd gens.

Finally did something decent with my floor, got some vinyl from a 2wd single cab, so it does the front at least. and has little side pieces that run along the seats so theres is no metal exposed until you push the seat forward. I got it from this guy who has a crap load of Toyota's sitting behind a barn. He had a 1st gen with one of those nice 3 spoke steeringwheels with the horn buttons on the spokes. i asked him for that two and he grabbed one already off the truck out of the barn. Best part is he didn't want a dime for either the vinyl or the wheel. SWEET

For those who want to put one of these wheels on their second gen. you not allowed because i did it first. but if you must you have to slightly enlarge the hole on the column. get some minor wheel rub lol. And those who want to mount a gauge where i did, your not allowed... mount it a bit lower because mine interferes with the cluster and i had to trim the gauge. i also had to trim the main dash structure to make it fit and get the line in the back of it. Hey, at least its not a  :stopit: pillar gage pod. Sorry i don't like those.

Talon84x4

I like those older wheels too, almost put one in mine when I got it but the yard that had the wheels wanted way too much for it.

Nice and clean look dig the steering wheel too.
toyotas are like tonka trucks of old built to beat the hell out of

46&2

Wow, don't know how I missed this build up. Very nice work, I really like your truck. I didn't see it but maybe I missed it. Is that a factory Toyota color? I can't recall ever seeing that shade of blue before. Anyway, dig the ride, you do some great work from the looks of it.

SolidAxle

Thanks guys.
No its not a factory color, its an older ford color i think. Altough right now the truck is brown hehe, i went wheeling yesterday. next thing i want to get is a marlin rear bumper, I was a little concerned about my rear quarters meeting a tree or the sides of the ruts we were in. The only trail damage i had was the front thing under the stock bumper got pulled out when i was backing up, and i lost one of the plugs that goes in the plastic corners of the front bumper lol. only have a couple after pics.

46&2

A Marlin bumper would look great, mine has saved me more times than I can remember

Yeah i'd rather do the aussie first. We were with 2 rigs with open diffs, they didn't look like they were having as much fun. Almost every hole they were on the strap, and if they made it its because they bounced their way through lol.

THK Matt

wheeling with open diffs is hard.... you can still mud though.... just got to pin it.

just read through your whole thered, nice job! keep up the updates

SolidAxle

Thanks guys i'll try to keep you updated. right now I'm farting around with a cb, i bought one of those little cobras, model dx 19 llto stick in the ashtray. If you didn't know (like me) the cb is too deep to fit there  :rivers: so I am probably going to mount it below the radio. and still have a little bit of a pocket there. before i do, anybody have any suggestions on where else to put it. I'm contemplating trading it to get a full size one so it sits cleaner in the pocket below the radio.

THK Matt

cleaner is better... im guna get the new "classic" one and mount it "overhard"
