Yep, IMO, the 2.7 is very much a bigger 22RE.  Feels like a turbo 22RE without the lag.(or they added another cylinder or something).  Go out and test-drive a used late 90s Tacoma this week.  Easiest way to test out the motor.

that is my plan. i have a friend that has a taco iam going to test drive. i want to see how fast it can do the hill right before our base. my runner is doing around 50 at the top.

if youve got $3300 to spend, I would go all out and drop in a tundra V8, tranny and transfercase. the old I-force would be fine but the new one would be even more superfly.
