ye, for work i have justins lace to toe and they are pretty comfy. the heel is a low heel and if i did get into FF i would get a high heel so in the long run it saves me steps waking up a hill for shorter foot travel and more boot to dig in walking down hill for better traction

:yesnod:  A lot of crews actually require a taller heel.  If I remember right, we actually have to have a 2" heel on our wildland boots.  Make sure you check the specific requirements of your crew or dept. before you buy them though. Most wildland boots fit most requirements, but some don't.

I thought the EMT program was part of the AS degree?  :dunno:  I know it is at American River.  Honestly, I'd really recommend going to the Fire Academy.  :yesnod:  It opens up a lot of doors.  I had a lot of closed doors presented to me, simply because I didn't have the FF1 Academy under my belt.

You should look into how much it costs to just change a government entitie's name.  you're dead on, they won't spend much money to change the existing rigs, just put the new logo on it as they get replaced.

Just an example, Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District merged with Reno Fire Department in 2000.  All the TMFPD stations that are now Reno stations still say TMFPD, all the TMFPD rigs are still yellow, they just got a big sticker that says RFD on them to show that they are Reno rigs now (Reno runs red equipment)

Interview Board
Cal Fire
their address

Dear Interview board:

My name is AJ Weisgerber and I am writing about the summer position of a Firefighter one. I learned of this position threw my college teacher, my father, and online. I am a very nice guy, I get along great with others and I am also a very hard worker.

I am interested in the Firefighter one position because I know it is an important stepping-stone in starting a career as a firefighter. I know that as a firefighter one I will be doing hard work, daily house hold duties, cleaning gear, and making sure the tools are sharp and ready to go for the next call. I have recently joined a gym so I can get myself in shape for the up coming fire season. I push myself harder and harder each time I go and work out. I never quit on anything; I always give 100% and then some. Along with going to the gym, I have taken the liberty of earning some certifications that are important to this job. There were no stations in Chico that offered the courses, so I enrolled in the classes in the next county. I have to drive myself there and back as often as the class meets and will continue to do so until the certifications they offer, I earn are met. This semester I will also be attending school full time, as well as earning the certifications.

I would like to thank you for your time and hope to hear from you shortly with the good news of an interview where I will be able to answer any questions. Thank you again for your time.

Sincerely,

AJ Weisgerber

Anybody from socal, in any fire programs? i'm currently at Rio Hondo's fire science program and About to start their wildland fire academy.it starts in Feb and ends in May... Been training since early NOV.. Can't wait till it starts!!
Let's put a smile on that face!

Doof

is that the cdf 67 hour class?
or actual everyday 8-4 nothing but wildland academy

steveco.

yea it's nothing but wildland.  it's 6am- 1pm M, T, W and on TH it's 6am- 4pm... it's three classes put together so one is the academy, one is the firefighter PE class and the other is fire strategies.. it's like 13 units you can get 8 more units if you get on the crew. Rio Hondo has their own crew called the road runners where we work and go to school at the same time and get paid. From what they tell us, is basically we'll get picked up out of the academy or while were in it.. they have a deal with USFS to have us work while in training.. Also helps to get your EMT. luckly i got certified in high school
