:yesnod:  thats the way it goes.

Find someone that is in the fire service, that has a similar personality, and see if they'll work with you on interviews.  I worked with a ret. captain for like 34 months, interviewed 2-3 times during thattime frame, and bombed them all.  Started working with a different ret. capt, worked with him for about a month, interviewed once, and got hired.  The tricks and tidbits that he shared were exactly what I needed.  The first guy was helpful, but due to his personality, his tips just didn't help.  FYI, when you're preparing, do a lot of studying up on the area that the station is at.  Showing knowledge of the area and working it in shows initiative, and real interest in the specific job.  If you want some study tips/ interview tips, I've got a bunch of stuff written down that I can pull out and send to you in a pm.

that would be huge... if you dont mind doing that i would really appreciate it.

good news from the class last night. we are doing the tulare(sp) drill which is a one man 300ft. hoselay w/ charged line off the engine. to complete the class we have to be able to do it under 10 minutes. the first time i tried it on saturday i got 1120 and could hardly walk after for while and wasnt feeling to hot for a a few hours. last night we did it again, and i got 820. i was flying, it felt so good i was stoked. when i finished my intructor was like, o :pokinit:, you ready for your time. he showed me and was soooo stoked for me. a 3 minute cut is HUGE. i was so happy i could have done it again, but didnt cause i would have prob spent 20 minutes on it lol.... thought i would share the good news of kicking ass in that hose lay drill

steveco.

have you passed the bittle yet? try that.. tons of fun..

Some, not much though.  We've got a sepearate training course we take after 3 years on the dept, to qualify to operate the equipment, and that is all covered in there.  We learned the basics, but thats about it.  We did learn a bit more in wildland, just due to using the float pumps, drafting, and relay pumps, but overall ,we didn't cover much.  If you have any specific questions or anything about it though, feel free to ask and I can get the answer for ya

call CDF, or one of the shot crews.  They don't put them on very often, and not for very many people.  I'm not even sure you can just go get it.  I could be wrong, but I think you have to put some time in first.  If you work a few seasons (mabye even one) they'll put you through it themselves.

One of the girls in my class was a sawyer, she said that they would put on the faller classes prior to the start of the season, when they still have projects going on.  Do the project and the class at the same time.

some community colleges teach it, might check around your area.  Just call CDF (Calfire now, I guess :dunno: ) , you can go to their website, and find all the info you need

Most likely too late, classes have most likely already started.  You might still be able to find one open though :crossed:  That being said, same advice as last year, call a couple of CDF stations, ask them about it, and call your community colleges
