What is that...some type of pig latin or something?

We always buried the poo and packed out the paper. I know, at least I thought, there is a different policy in California.

It's a wilderness area  :slap:

In wilderness areas you're supposed to bury your poop about 200 feet from your camp or a water source (try doing that in a lake basin with multiple creeks :shake: ) and either pack out your used tp or burn it.  I seriously just try not to poop out there, but when out on multiple day trips it's unavoidable.  Now I hear you hafta pack it all out on the con, poop and all, and I hafta wonder if this is because some of it is privately owned or due to the sheer volume of people who use it?  That I could understand since everybody uses the same routes all the time, but if you're ambling cross country in a vast wilderness area there's a good chance nobody will ever use the same route.

why not just dig a hole and cover EVERYTHING up with a mound of dirt...paper and all? wont it just degrade back into worm food anyways?

:yesnod:  That's how nature works yknow   You know that and I know that, but the green weenies in the forest servix want everything to be *natural*, and since terlet paper is manufactured it's not natural.  Realistically, if you properly bury it all it'll NEVER have any impact whatsoever, but the forest service wants it to be 100% natural so it's their way or nothing.  I crossed a bridge they built on one of the wilderness trails this week and had to chuckle.  It was mostly metal and concrete :haha:

Just a gol-dern minute there...  Paper comes from trees, and trees are natural -- I say bury it with the poo and you're helping to complete the cycle of life.  Composting is a good thing, recycling at its best...

Besides, it's like an early-warning system...  If I'm digging a hole for the purpose mentioned, I'd rather have my little trowel expose a bit of paper first, instead of plunging directly into the last guy's,uh... leavings.   :pokinit:

If you truly are the first in there in years it'll give you one great advantage:  the deer won't necessarily be so skittish.  It's not a given, but if they're not used to avoiding humans they might be more likely to consider you just another aminal.

And then he is going to shoot the trusting animal DEAD! Such a shame.

Get some of the RV TP, it make to degrade very quicky and completely so it doesn't clog up the tanks.

I'm going to assume the majority of your knowledge on hunters is from watching the movie bambie (sp).  You're taking what I said out of context.  The deer aren't going to stand there while he walks up and shoots them in the eye.  Deer often times know you're there when you're several hundred yards away, and if hunting pressure is high you may only see a glimpse of a distant tail.  If hunting pressure isn't high you may be presented with a nice 100-200-300 yard shot.

And remember, YOU may think shooting an animal for food is a shame, but I'm pretty sure you're a meat eater, and that animal had to die some how too!

If you get campers/hikers tp it's probably the same thing.  That's what I use and I don't mind leaving it behind.  I think the whole deal with the greenies is that you packed the paper IN, so they want you to pack the paper OUT.

Every time I go hiking I come out with a pocket full of other people's old fishing line, and I keep a little baggie with me for smaller garbage items, candy wrappers etc.  I just don't understand how people go out to enjoy such a beautiful area and still drop their trash like they're in their city park  :shake:

Didn't have time to post this before going to work this morning...

Several years ago (when I was younger and my knees worked  ::) ) a few of us were walking out of the Alps (Trinity, not Swiss) after a couple days fishing a couple of lakes.  Coming through a high country meadow, we met a group of kids heading in.  One of them had TP in one hand and a trowel in the other, and was loudly asking a counselor "But where do I go??"

Struck me as funny at the time (guess you had to be there)  and I've never forgotten it.

I have never seen Bambi and never will. I really have nothing against hunting just could never do it myself (unless I really had to, I guess)
But I do love me some venison when our hunting buddies have shared in the past.

Now go have a good time, good hunting to you ramrod!

It's always possible to have pigs (the vast majority of wild swine in cali are feral pigs, not boars) almost anywhere, but where he's going I highly doubt it.  I've seen tracks in places that had me :headscratch: , but they usually stick to lower hill country areas.  There are bears, big bears, but you don't hafta worry about them much unless they're super pissed, injured or you get between momma and her babies.

The one aminal that makes me wanna pack a healthy sidearm are mountain lions.  They can get flat monstrous and have absolutely no fears.  They're not going to run from you because they're scared of you, it's more likely they'll flee cause they either aren't hungry or just don't want anything to do with you.

I'm sure a good .357 round will do for most things, but if I could only have one sidearm for anything it'd be atleast a .41 magnum.  I REALLY like the taurus titanium wheelguns, but sadly we can't get them in california

Main reason pigs are hard to drop is cause they have THIIIIICK bones, especially shoulder blades!

we have pigs on our property but they dont go where i will be.  Ive never had a problem bringing one down and I dont think i'll need a sidearm when im already carrying a 30-06

Rockcrawlintoy

yeah i carry a sidearm just in case the rifle is knocked from my hand or if i am unable to acquire the threat such as a mountain lion because of a very short distance.
