I'll fill you in first. Yesterday my daughter's BF stopped by, said he wanted to talk about his new truck...(I being a daddy knew better)...he asked  me for permission to marry Nidara. They're going to San Diego next weekend, he doesn't know when or where has going to ask her, but wants some ideas. I'm thinking some kind of scenic overlook at sunset or something...are there any really beautiful bluffs or anything at the beach in San Diego that might do?

I don't think I could ask for much better than him. I told him last week...he's the son I never wanted, er never had. Best of all he loves the hell out of her and she him. They're cute couple...she's 5'4" and he's 6' 5".

Too your original question, there are several places.  Mission Bay is always nice, though a bit crowded on the weekends.  There is always Palomar Mountain in the evening.  Great place to watch the sunset as you can see the coast and all the valleys in between.  Boucher Lookout up there right as the sun is going down is spectacular!

On the "being asked" part, that is cool.  It is old fashioned and it is good to hear that she has found someone that has manners.
Just out havin' fun...life's a beach!

Whatever.. my grandmother was a ballroom dancer that won many trophies from Roselands in NYC... extreme height differences where not judged well in either direction...
OK that means nothing.. just me being judgemental as usual.

I wasn't saying anything other than their height differences just make them all the cuter.

I'm 6'3" and Nidara's mom was 5 foot even. I think tall guys like shorter women...it lets us think we're the protectors.

I guess that is something that pisses me off. At 5'-8" I don't prefer short guys, and the tall guys always went for the really short girls.. that made no sense to me. ANd of course the short guys lke the tall girls, but the tall girls want the guys their height but... it seemed to me it was only the real touchy feely in touch with their feelings kinda tall guys that liked women their height.... :ack:

Now...to be clear. I like wiminz...tall, short or in between. All things being equal, a shorter, darker (Mexican or Asian ) woman just hits the spot, always has. Nidara's mom was Lao/Thai.

I know, you told me that before.. I guess I think that men find taller women too intimidating, that's why they find the shorter ones more attractive.... or accessible, perhaps.
I have always loved being tall and I would not wish shortness on me for anything, but I have always felt less, feminine I guess, cause I am tall.
Oh, and I had a guy I loved that, just before he broke up with me said "you're too tall to be cute" and left me for a short girl.

Nevermind :offtopic:

No, I dated a gorgeous girl in KC...she was like 6' 1". She ended up marrying a Deputy...she was packed!

Not sure what you're basing this on, but I've been short all my life, had many shorter friends and haven't found this to be true at all.  I'm attracted to attractive girls.  I'd much prefer a girl my height of shorter, but that's VERY hard to find.  In my experience, it's the girls who are attracted to taller guys.  The majority of them will come out and say it.

that is too cool!  :woohoo:  Congrats on the new son-in-law to be.

You might suggest to him to go to the beach where the Del Coronado Hotel is. That place is real nice, it was built in the late 1800's. If money isn't too big an issue they have a nice restaraunt there at the hotel as well (pricey though, in this case worth it ). They even have a really nice courtyard there too. We stayed there at the Del Coronado Hotel for our anniversary a few years ago and loved it!  Maybe even a carriage ride in downtown near the marinas. Lots of good views there so close to the water.  :yesnod: Lotsa good restaraunts in SD. My wife and I like going there since her cousin lives 30 mins from there in Carlsbad.

Wish him luck from all of us!  :beerchug:

Del Coronado...isn't that the great huge Victorian style place? That sounds good.

Plus Coronado (Island?) is right across the harbor from San Diego via the Coronado bridge.  It's a really quaint area. It kinda reminds me Alameda if you've ever been there, only nicer.
