COOKING WITH WERTY
« on: Aug 09, 2007, 07:06:31 PM »
:cheese:  BEER BATTER RED SNAPPER  :cheese:

Get some fish (cod, rock, or cat).
Your favorite BEER.
Pancake mix the normal white kind. DONT USE BLUEBERRY MIX  :reg: .
A med sized pot half full of veggie oil.
Mix about a cup of mix to some beer make the batter thick but creamy. Drink the rest  :boozer:
turn the heat up till a drop of batter cooks to golden brown in about 10 to 15 secs.

Get the fish all lathered up and start putting it in the pot

The fish chunk should rise to the top in about 15 to 20 seconds and be golden brown in 3-4 minutes.

Using forseps to remove the fish. place fish on paper towels or a rack with paper towers under it to absorb the extra oil.

I like to use my oven to hold the extra fish when thier done dripping excess oil. I use a small pizza pan from round table and put the oven around 225*

cook up some frys and your done.

It plainly says...your favorite.

I presume that would mean any beer that is near?

Looks great!  Is the sugar there by coincidence or does it play a role?  Don't think I've ever cooked sea fish at home, wouldn't mind trying some cod or?

I figured as much, just wishfull thinking on the part of a sugar-holic :haha:

Dtb, not sure :dunno:  Mostly just had cod when we used to go to a seafood place as kids...... drawing a blank on the name - SKIPPERS, that's it!  All I remember is we used to fill out the "how did we do?" questionairs with what we thought to be funny answers.  My brother and I would rofl, dad might chuckle but didn't have much patience for us and mom would get mad.  Strangely she would still usually lend me a pen and not realize what I was about to do

 DON'T USE BLUEBERRY MIX

And can I use tongs in place of the forceps? :rofl2: FORCEPS!  :talkingn:

I could see how the lime flavored beer would add a good flavor to the batter, but I'd prefer a Killians if I have to drink the rest. :boozer:

Life is like a bowl of beer flavored chocolate covered dog turds.. it makes no sense. :pokinit:

Yes, I haven't had beer in quite some time but that was always my favorite.

Wasn't thinking of food when I saw "beer battered" and "snapper" on the same line, but I guess my mind wasn't on food in the first place.

Sorry for the off topic interuption. We now return you to your regularly scheduled cooking show.
