brake drum backing plate question
« on: Jul 19, 2007, 08:11:01 AM »
will the backing plate from an 85 rear axle fit on an 87 rear axle? the one on my 87 is rusted out, and a friend has one on an 85 axle, but i dont really want him to go to the trouble of pulling it and shipping it only to find out if it works or not... thanks!

the 85  i think  has a smaller diameter  brake drum,  and the axle is shorter

but besides  that it would bolt up  to your housing

The 85 brake cover has a smaller bore center also.
