Marlin 4" springs
« on: Jul 09, 2007, 06:05:04 PM »
I am trying to decide wetween Marlin 4" springs or go with rears up front. My bigest concern is how tall will the Marlin springs make my truck. I'm planning for 35" tires and don't want to be any taller than need be. I currently have pro comp 3" with a longer shackle in the back and 33x10.50x15 BFG's. Parts I have stocked up are Hi-steer kit, ifs box and plates, long slip yoke. The cross member and Duel stock cases are on its way shortly. Here are some picks and I dont know if its the correct measurement to give , but its 39.25 from front fender to the ground and 38.75 back fender to ground. My ubjective is to only go as tall as is needed to stuff a 35 up in the fenders without rubbing. Any help and picks would be vary help full. Thanks

going rears up front isnt exactly a bolt on affair, youll need banana shackles, and will probably need to move the front hangar forward as well, as they will move the axle 2" forward of its current location, this will need to be offset, i have heard there is also the issue of needing a longer front driveshaft, usually there are steering issues, but it sounds liek you have that taken care of with the hysteer

you could probably fit 35s on it now with some fender trimming/hammering of pinch welds....

You do not need banana shackles necessarily.  I ran RUF's for almost 2 years without banana shackles.

Here are some marlin 4" USA springs/5" rear on an 85 4runner with 37" Iroks.  The springs have settled roughly an inch since this picture was taken.  Hope this helps

Thanks for the pick, Do you think you can get me a measurement from top of the front axle to the bottom of the frame so I can compare to where I am now. Thanks I really appreciate it.

How many inches of lift would you gain putting RUF? I am thinking about doing them but I am not sure on how high it would put me.

Just a little trim on the front edge of the front fender, 4" lift dual transfer cases bud cross member, hi-steer and custom winch bumper. Allmost finished, waiting on front springs they are out of stock at the moment.

Here you go... my 82 with 33's and 4" marlins up front.  If you cut the front of the fender (im guessing like i did) 35's will be just about perfect, as I think that 37s are about the limit unless you wanna really hack your fenders..

Truck looks awsome thanks. I'll get some picks up as soon as I get the front springs and get them on.
