Actually I did remove the front swaybar and took apart my other tcase. The main reason I'm posting is that I keep getting people wanting to talk to me about my  :turtle: sticker on the back of my truck. I work on a very busy street right across the street from Mesa Community College and I've had about 3 people ask me what I have in it. I'm embarrassed to tell them it's sitting in my garage yet to be installed. So Marlin ship me a free adapter so I can sell these guys on your products. Also ship me a big marlin sticker and I'll put it on my hood, they'll see it for sure then. :gap:
Wow, what kind of person would come bother you at your place of work like that.

Rocksurfer

Never a bother, hell I probably bothered you more by talking your ear off while you tried to eat.

Yeah, but at least I got some free food out of it.

Did some work on the Econowheeler today, cranked in 5 more rounds into the torsion bars to level it out. Man I worked my but off on that one, had to jack the front of my truck up 3 times.

Just got done ordering a bunch of suspension mods for Optical Illusion, and a lift kit for the Durango. :woohoo:
Plus I noticed that the bushings on the front upper A-arms are due for replacement 190,000 miles of wear will do that. So I'm going to take care of that too.

After 195,000 miles the time had come to replace the front upper a-arms, no I didn't SAS it but I did have some really good spares that I picked up so I slapped them in and cleaned the frontend up. I pulled everything off, checked the ball joints which also ended up needing replacement which of course I had a spare set of too. That's the life of wheelin' IFS style, always got to have a spare set. Actually the originals had a good life and far exceeded what some expect out of them. I think I may have to replace the lower a-arms soon too, and yes I have some spares. :gap:

I also spent some of that giftcard money on a new Highlift and mounting brakets.

Is it me or is the front passenger side shock bent? Otherwise look's good.

Kevin

Oh, same shocks yeah I painted them black but you can clearly see the right one is not bent, and yes it does have a little more lift in the front now.

Next up, a bodylift so I can accomodate 35's, it's about the only way to be able to fit them on an IFS. It's only a 2", I would have prefered a 1" hockey puck lift but 1" is not enough to be able to fit 35's. With a 2 inch they should easily clear and a 3" is way too much. It'll have to wait until I have a few days off next week, and I want to put the 2 inch lift on the Durango 1st.

just move your axle forward like us SA guys...cut it all off, move it forward and weld it back on.

Rocksurfer

 That's a great idea, there is tons of room on the front on an IFS. I could move it forward 2 feet, don't have to worry about springs. :cheese:

While I was at Johnson Valley yesterday a package came from UPS, still waiting for more stuff and this was one of the easier parts I bought. I was going to go back out to Johnson Valley today since most of my fellow club members were coming today but I strained a back muscle, I took Co-Pilot's dirt bike and he was having some difficulties in the sand dunes so I was helping him get through. It seems that he may have got some sand in his fuel so I was having to drag it out of the dunes, load it in my truck and in doing this hurt my back again. I didn't go out so I figured I could at least work on the next little project I got in the mail since it only involved drilling a couple holes to mount my skidplate. After unpacking it I instantly noticed that it had been previously scratched and repainted by Superlift, I also noticed that some of the holes were bent indicating to me that it had been previously installed on something. I also noticed that the Superlift emblem was installed upside down, I am assuming that it is a return and that the person that originally purchased it tryed to install it that way and it wouldn't fit, DUH! I don't mind that it was a return and that they bent the mounting holes but that the fact that Superlift just painted over the scratches and shipped it out again really pisses me off. Not that I'm not going to scratch it but what if I had a clean truck and got this crap. You can clearly see the big gashes in the photos, I am going to be calling them tommorrow. The mounting is pretty staight forward, the top end just bolts up to the oem location and then you must drill 2 holes in the front axle crossmember. It is a pain getting those two holes bolted up you have to work the nuts into the square tube and thread them on. Then you have to get a wrench in there to hold them while tightening them up with your ratchet, they are at a bad angle and you cannot get the open end of the wrench on them so you have to use the closed end since the angle on it allows you to get ahold of the nuts. The big problem is once tightened you cannot  get the wrench off because once tight there is almost no clearance between the bolt and the inside of the tube. I had to loosen them to get it out and then I bent a flat screwdriver and used it as a wedge to re-tighten them. Now with that on I won't be banging that crossmember anymore.  Of course the 1st thing I did was to remove the Superlift emblem so that I don't look stupid with it upside down, and I did not put it back on.

Since I am off Monday and Tues I decided to start installing the bodylift I bought, the plan was to start by investigating what I was going to have to relocate or what I was going to need to free up to allow it to move on Sunday after work and then start work on Monday since I wasn't sure how long it would take to finish since I need to drive it to work. Well I was completely finished installing it on Sunday, it took only a few hours to do. I plan on doing a little writeup on the job so that anyone that wants to put one on will see how to do it. I think I deviated from the instruction manual after the 1st step, (1). Remove battery cables. :gap:
