Shadycrawler's Project Family Truggy
« on: May 20, 2007, 10:22:17 PM »
About 6 months ago I had to make a choice, 4runner or Walk-thru Truck.  My boy is 1 1/2 years old now and its time to take him wheeling.  So this weekend we started on Project Family Truggy to we can get it done before Rubithon.

The Masterminds of the operation were Rocky of Marlin Crawler and his brother Ryan.  Without out them I would've been lost.  With their brains and my beer drinking we got a lot accomplished this weekend. We wanted to of course make somthing unique but also something functional were I could carry a couple of packers on the trail.

And at the end of a long day we had 90% of the tube bed built.  Mounting the PRP seat, the sheet metal panels , & wiring in lights are on my list of next things to do.  As things come along Ill keep everyone updated.  but as of the end of this weekend here were we stood.

The rear seat is a PRP seat that I bought off the shop.  It was orginally for the F-Toy but we didn't end up needing it.  It seats 2.

Where did you get the rear seat?  does it seat 2 or 3?

On Saturday we basically got the truck 98% complete.  First we braced the floor with some 1x1 square tube. Next we braced the back with some tube to add some extra strength but also to help weld the sheet metal on the back.
We welded in the floor next and the tabs for the seat.  And you thought shock tabs were only used for one reason.

Props to Bryan at UDS Hardware & Offroad in Gardena, CA for hooking me up with the LED Lights.  Those things look great and are super bright. :beerchug:
After the sheet metal was fully welded in and the lights were wired up we broke out the Black Krylon.  Ten cans later here's how she looked!
There's still some little things I have to do but for the most parts the back half turned out great, better then I could've imagined.
