well I made a couple posts in research before I noticed the newb introduction area.  I'm Andy and I live in Walnut Creek, CA.  I've made the transition from muscle cars to off-roading.  My first car I bought in high school (i'm 26 now) was my 1970 Camaro (to explain my sn).  I've been on msg boards for a while now and just kept the same name throughout to keep it simple for me.  Now on to my truck project :)

I have my '87 pickup 22R that I am going to do an SAS on.  So far I have a TG sas kit, the axles from an 85 and a new transmission/tcase with driveshaft from the same truck on Craigslist (i love CL).  My trans is making some bearing noise so I need to swap that asap.  I went on a buying spree here on MC, fror and on blazenoffroad last week  :)  ...got everything but the front bumper from last week's spree
I still plan to get 5.29 V6 e-locker 3rd members fr and rear from MC and the required accessories for that.  I'd love to get the MC rear lift but I'm not sure if it will be level with the TG 4" sas kit.  They say the 4" sas kit nets 5" lift because of the shackles so I don't know what I'd have to order to be level.  Also tossing around the idea of a dual case but that will probably not happen until I get it together and see how it performs.

Anyway, here's the goods so far... lots of work ahead and tomorrow I'll be picking up my new-to-me Lincoln welder :beerchug:  and yeah, I had some fun with paint  :gap:

Normally, you'd keep the rear axle because it is wider, but if you really want to swap and early unit into the truck, I got dibs on your 87 rear!

yeah I am keeping my stock rear but the guy didn't want to separate front and rear when selling them.  I planned on using the 3rd member out of the rear to rebuild but did the math and found it was less to just buy one finished from MC when labor is factored in with parts :)

I'm sure I can find someone that needs a rear axle and a front 3rd welded member loaded 4.56's

I plan on keeping this thing street legal so that's why I prefer the selectable lockers

....and don't forget the build up thread with lots of pictures. Some of us don't read to well and the pictures help us build our rigs.
