So..I am less than a month from returning to Wichita...which I have been looking forward to.
I get called to managers office today.  He says...we want you to stay.  Offering raise and promotion to relocate to Tulsa.  What the H am I supposed to do now.

You only have to give up 50% of your freedom and income. It's not too bad! :talkingn:

I think I saw this Friends episode already... :headscratch:

Moving from KS to OK is sort of like moving from one empty room in a house to another, not much at either place.  Is there any reason for you to live in KS other than the cost of living compared to income?  Why did you move there?  If the overall money is better in OK and there are not any other significant factors then go for it.  I have heard it said that the best thing coming out of KS is I-70.

So how much more $ are they offering?  Just keep your options open, until the right job opens up where you want to live!  Honestly Oregon is a good location.  It doesn't get too hot, and the state doesn't want to take all your $!

Money is nice CTENG, but not everything, money aside I would ask my self this question in your situation.

Which place will I be happier living in?  freinds and family considerations, plus future career advancement would also be in my thought process.

Wermz that is what it all boils down to!

I have friends that ask me to move to the valley and make more $, but I don't want more $, I want my family.  Hopefully in August I will be able to get a day shift position at work, it will mean a slight decrease in pay, but I will get to see my family more, and not just on weekends!  (no I'm not divorced!  I work swingshift!)

OK... I say... go with the money, gain more experience, save up for a few years and if you want to make a change in the future you can have a nice nest egg to fall back on.

He moved to KS as part of a career move in the same company, I believe. Then they sent him to OK temporarily.

What the H am I supposed to do now.
If you like doing what your doing & were your living I say stay. If you don't then raise the stakes on your end like a company car or a company gas card. Their offer is probably on the low end for them. Ask for more, you just might get it  :crossed:

MWM has it pretty much right. I am NO WHERE near family already so they are not a consideration.  I am on a temp assignment in OK for the same company as I werk for in Wichita.  I have apparently impressed the managers here because they are offering me a raise (undisclosed amount as yet) and promotion if I would be willing to stay in Tulsa permanently (more than 3-6 more months, i.e. move here).

The promotion is really the impportant part because I am really intent on furthering my career as much as I can while I am young.  More money is always a plus.  While I am not thrilled with Tulsa, the opportunity may make it worth spending some time here.  On a brighter note, I am only 40 min out from Disney.

I don't have a whole lot tying me to Wichita except that I was very comfortable living there.  Oh, and moving is a PITA!
