WOAH there.

I just noticed this. I won't have time to look into this until very, very late tonight (am hours) or tomorrow at work.

Very interesting.... Hmmmmmmmmmmm

Ok, got some time to mess with it earlier than expected.

I got it working, then I broke trying to upgrade to a newer Sphinx engine, and then I removed everything and reinstalled using the original binaries, and now it won't index the delta index.

So now the search works, but it doesn't return any results,

QuoteNo results found

...because it is searching through an empty index.

I'm still working on it, please stand by...

Don't know if it is my computer but I am missing the dates and such at the top replies when you go into a thread and some of the main thread titles for new members, ebay auctions, free stuff and a few more.   :dunno:

I am also not seeing any text in the shout box but I see the smiley's.

And now the search feature is giving me the same thing that Jimbo took a screen shot of.

All_Set

Believe I found couple misprints.  On the clutch pages, the 1800, and 2100 pages have "Each kit comes with 1200 pressure plate"  instead of the respective 1800, 2100.

If you would like to help save the Rubicon, send money to the Rubicon Trail Foundation

BigMike

All_set,

Thank you for those misprints. I will address them first thing in the morning. For future reference, please address store website bugs to the following thread: http://board.marlincrawler.com/index.php?topic=53541.0

As for the other forum errors, I will look into them tomorrow. Fixing the search engine is #1 priority but I am not sure if I will have time to fix the rest.

Homefries: What browser and version are you using?

Thanks

Ok guys,

I still cannot figure out what happened to the Sphinx search system, so I have deactivated it and have reverted back to the former (much slower) SQL driven search engine.

So at least we have a search engine, but it's a lot slower than what was working..

Yeah, I know about that error. It occurs when I promote more than 1 new product to the front page. For some reason two extra DIV tags are being generated, and unfortunately I have been extremely busy and haven't had time to dig into the code to find a solution.

I'll try to get it resolved sometime this week,

Mike

When you click on the second option, it takes you back to the top of the main menu. regardless what section your in. Basically the one below that isn't striked through is the one that doesn't work right.

Ok, I just looked into this and from my brief investigation I don't understand why it is doing this. Sorry it will have to remain like this for a while...

Is it better now?

As for ALLLLLLLLLLLLLLL the forum bugs, I learned a LOT when I redid the website but since it was a "learn-as-I-go" process I have code written over the top of other code and hacks to fix problems I forgot about and it's a huge mess, hence the poor cross platform nature.

Well I have recently looked into porting our site to the next version of Drupal since more and more modules have become available, but I need to wait for the next version of our shopping cart software to be fully developed before I port everything over.

Once the next version shopping cart software is released, I will completely start over from scratch on the theme layout utilizing what I have learned so that all platforms can view our website without glitch, and also at that time I will upgrade this forum to SMF version 2.x which is faster, more powerful with many more features including a WYSIWYG full-on text entry system and improved smiley handling.

So there will be massive, massive "backend" changes later this summer(?) fall(?). The Store website will function completely the same, but the forum software will function slightly different but it should "feel" about the same.

Stay tuned-

I keep getting these error messages.  15 at a time now.  Same line and character, w/ a variation on the number at the end of the URL.  It's always done it a couple of times, but now it's to the point that it's difficult to browse the forum.

Ok, I've seen that error as well but I've never been motivated to fix it.

I am not sure why the errors are appearing more often now, but none the less, let me check it out-

Hmmmm... It should be returning results based on relevance, however I know there is a way for me to control the weighted averages for each search criteria (subject, author, poll, forum). Let me check if there is a date filter.... stand by...

EDIT: Ok, I increased the odds a more recent topic will be returned in your search results.

BigMike

It's still messed up, searches still come up in a completely random order.  Would it be possible to maybe start a poll to see if people would rather searches come up based on relevence or chronological order?

Also, it seems the magic turtles message may have been written in haste.  It reads "Sorry! You where to late another member has gotten the Turtle!".  Should read more like "Sorry!  You were too late, another member got the Turtle!".  I also wonder if they're set properly, cause I'm pretty sure nobody else can snag the turtles I see while checking my pm's, but I keep getting that message!
