2009 couldn't be any more happier now that we've released an entirely new website!

http://www.marlincrawler.com

It's been a loooong road but it's finally here! This new site brings in a wealth of new products from Marlin Crawler, Incorporated. In addition to the new site being easier to read and navigate, it is also much easier for us to update! Expect more news, articles, trip reports, and of course, new exciting products to unleash!

I still have a lot of things to work on (replacing a 3 year old site isn't a simple task) so bug fixes, product updates, news, picture gallery, awards, lots more to come soon!

What does everyone think about the new site?!!!!!!!!!!!!!    :turtle:

I don't like all of the red font, but other than that it seems to be minor differences that we'll just get used to over time.

you have to create a new account, but if you simply use the same user name it work fine...There was no Vman in the database so there would be no Iron Chef....Just create an account with the same username, input your email address then change your password( it emails you a password) to the same one on the forum and it will be seamless almost.   Just remember the forum and Inc are seperate servers, so it's two websites.

V-Man pretty much summed it up. The core of the problem is that this forum seriously values it's members privacy. I am the administrator (god) here and yet I can NOT view your account password. I can change your password by entering a new one, but I cannot view or see anyone's password, they are completely encrypted by the forum.

So even though I have full access to the database, this is a serious hang up. I already have the SQL knowledge to merge user names from the forum to the new website, but there is no way for me to merge passwords along with this data.

So everyone will just need to create another account, use the same user name and password for convenience if you wish, but I cannot do this for you.

The shopping cart remembers who you are and saves your shipping and billing addresses, which is pretty nice!

BigMike

I have to leave until this evening, so I won't be around to fix anything until tonight.

KNOWN ISSUES:

- I still need to add many Complete Dual Ultimate setups to the transfer case section
- Our full Trail Flex suspension kit is temporarily not available. I should get it back up tonight, we have all sizes in stock, 4", 5" and 6".
- The "Events" link is broken for some reason :_oops:
- I still have some shipping quote errors that may prevent orders from being fulfilled. I will fix these tonight.
- A lot of prior tech info (such as gear ratios charts) are not up, but will be soon!

If you guys find any more errors, please let me know via PM. I had a lot to do all at once, so sorry if there are some oversights!

I have a LOT of new features in the works for the website still! It is going to be a VERY exciting year for Marlin Crawler!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Regards,
BigMike

I like it!  It's slow to load on dialup, but navigation is quick once it's loaded, and the layout is more user friendly than before.  I didn't notice if there's a paypal option yet  :gap:

BTW, I'd still really like to see an "add to wishlist" option next to the add to cart.  I use it on other sites to help with my poor memory.

X2  NIce when you have to gather up a few parts from around the site. :twocents:

Right on BigMike. I love what you have done with both the forum and the website. I was wondering if you were ever going to update the main site. Definitely appreciate the work you put into it. I know how chaotic all this stuff can get (especially a high traffic site like MC). I used to make websites and forums a few years back and I am impressed with how much you got together and got operating at the same time, sometimes that can get really tricky. I will keep my eyes posted for bugs and let you know. Also looking forward to order some of the new products you guys are offering

46&2

One thing I just noticed is on the main page, the next in the middle (white text) that describes all the new products (and on some of the product pages) overlaps on the right hand side in a few spots. Not really a big deal but adjusting my browser window size did not fix it. Just a minor annoyance really :)

Regarding a Product Wish List, this is a great idea, I will see if it is available.

@ fortysixandtwo: This is a big concern of mine. I learned a ton of CSS on the fly with all of this and changed the framework multiple times trying to improve cross platform compatibility. At one time I had 5 versions of the website operating and had to decided on which framework to go with (I choose to stay old-school and went with tables over floating divs).

So far I have verified the new forum theme works as it should using the following browsers:
  • Firefox 2.0.0.18, 3.0.5 and 3.1
  • Internet Explorer 6.0.29 and 7.0.5730
  • Opera 9.61, 9.63, and 10.0
  • Safari 3.1.2
  • Konqueror 3.5
  • SeaMonkey 1.1.12

and I have verified the new website works as it should using the following browsers & OS:
  • Firefox 2.0.0.14 on Fedora v7
  • Firefox 3.0.5 on Mac OS X v10.5, on Arch, on Windows XP Home and Pro
  • MSIE 6.0 on Windows 2000, Windows Server 2003, Windows XP Home and Pro, Windows Vista Home

However the website is currently broken on the following browsers and OS:
  • Google Chrome 0.4.154.25 & 1.0.154.36, both on Win XP
  • Firefox 1.5 on Windows 2000
  • MSIE 4.0 on any OS
  • MSIS 5.5 on Windows 2000
  • MSIE 8 beta works sometimes after page reloads, very strange
  • Opera 7.54 AND 8.54 AND 9.63 AND 10.00 on Ubuntu 8.04 LTS, Windows Server 2003, and Windows XP
  • Safari 3.2.1 on Mac OS X 10.5 and Win XP

The biggest problem is that the main content is not aligned correctly with the background container. I know where the problem is, but to be honest, less than 1 percent of our visitors use those up-coming browsers, so I am going to focus on getting it right for the other 99% before I sit down and resolve other problems. Also, I have never tested it on a black berry nor iPhone, etcetera, and I am most certain it will be broken on there as well.

I have a lot to do still! But I am loving the new site and the responses I've received! Thank you very much!

@ Weak-Link: I already know I own you on any video game so I stopped playing long time ago :gap:

BigMike
