You'll need at least a rear locker if anything, and you'll need to go in through the Tahoe side down Cadillac Hill.

that'll be the only way.

weirdtimes_7

But i can make it, at least enough to watch the big action??? I would like to do some crawling myself, but i just would like to go to have fun watchin everyone else and the MC peeps

Park at the staging area in Tahoe and hitch a ride in, or walk in, it's not far.

Just make sure you have a well built rig in front of and behind you so that you don't hold up the trail too long :disturbed:

I DID it in a bone stock runner on 33s, no lift

i would recomend at least doing a rear locker, or welding it up if yu cant afford one. otherwise you wont be able to get up cadillac hill with out help. i think  i saw justina getting a tug a few times ;)

but if you go in without sliders expect body damage, otherwise, if your a good driver you can do it, hell i did the whole trail in a subaru last year with a 3 inch lift :eyebrow:

That's why I was saying have a capable rig in front of and behind you, and make sure you guys get along :hahaha:

WHAT JUSTINA SAID, CAREFULLY!!!  but pull the rear diff out, clean it thoughroly, and welld the 4 spider(side) gears together, make sure you have the ring gear and pinion gear protected from splatter, its bad.

then reinstall, takes me 1/2 an hour or so, no biggie. and wala...redneck locker. i welded mine in august of 05 and been runnin heavy ass 37s on it since with no probs

and make sure you get with a good caravan going in. It's a grueling ride even in the most capable vehicles.

OH that's if you do the trail from Loon Lake, if you go in the Tahoe side it's not bad at all till you get to Cadillac. And that is :yikes:

hey Stang,I'd either weld up the rear or buy a spool and go in thru Cadillac Hill but like FFC mentioned be sure you have a well built rig in front of you to pull you though the tuff spots.Or you can do what Mini said and just catch a ride with someone,I'm sure there'll be plenty of people rollin' solo who wouldn't mind having a spotter/camera person   .

coat the ring and pinion gears in wd40, then lay a rag over everything that you dont want welding spatter to get on (bearings and gears. all that needs to be clean and open is the 4 small gears in side the diff, they are about 2 inches in diam, and there are 4

search "lincoln locker" and there should be a write up on some site, maybe here

I'll be searching, but in the mean time, does anyone have a pic of the gears needed to be welded???

You can post up on the MCR6 thread and see who has a seat open for our military guy :usa: and ride in from Loon... do it up right.

Hey MWM, you need to go... just get a rental (plus the insurance  ), and wheel the rental till it can't move anymore... then when they ask you what happened, just say you accidently hit a possum  :driving: :bricks: :_oops2: , HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Gittinit

I wheeled for a few years with just the spider and side gears welded together, then I stripped all the teeth from the spider gears whenthe welds finaly brokefree.
Here are how mine are welded this time around. This time the spider gears or what was left of them were welded together and the spiders and side gears are welded to the carrier. No worries!
