After seeing all the wheeling rigs over here on the West coast that have gotten stolen lately including my bros sweet first gen I figure it's time to install some sort of kill switch. My wheeler stays parked next to my house behind a locked gate but I'd like something for when I'm out and about. I have a decent Clifford Alarm but I know that won't phase a determined theif. I've seen people just pull the EFI fuse and I've seen very elaborate fuel and ignition cut ideas. I'm just looking for something simple that doesn't require me to rewire half my truck. Whatcha got on yours??

skipnrocks

Im running a master battery disconect hidden but accessable in drivers seat, then I am running a toggle switch to my switchboard for my ignition,  So even if they could get the batery bypassed the ignition has no heat.  Oh and my hood locks down.    But the ignition thing would work fine, easy and wouldnt allow hotwiring.

  hey UK

have you read this thread.   got some good ideas.

http://board.marlincrawler.com/index.php?topic=19808.0

I'm definatly going to do a hidden kill switch somewhere.  Or maybee a hidden start button, this way if a thief tries messing with stock key switch, Its not connected to anything.  after my truck was stolen and thankfully recoverd, this is definatly a priority.  :yesnod:

No But I'm going to get one from either of these two for my Momo.

this one will move the wheel toward me 2.2"  not sure if I'll like that.  Might be able to cut and trim momo hub adapter though.

or this one

I havn't called them yet to see if their hub will fit an 84.

I just read through that big thread. I didn't find that one when I was searching around. Lots of good ideas in that thread. Some of them look like a major PIA to work with though. I have to put my alarm in the valet mode when I wheel because the immobilizer becomes such a pain. I can't imagine working some of the crazy stuff I seen.

That something like what I'm wanting..  especially the no Heat at the ignition.

Kyota and Topar both have them I believe, and both love them.  Only PITA with them is you have to put the wheel somewhere/carry it with you.  Yes, I know, small price to pay, but it is still a PITA.

Personally, I have chain links on my shifters, they lock in reverse marlin low.  with enough time and a hacksaw a theif can get through them, but then they have to deal with other things that I really don't feel like sharing :gap:

I fogot to mention, if you get the lock and the links just right, you force the theives to make at  least 2 cuts, due to the "tangle" of metal :gap:

i posted this on another thread too....but
what about a fuel pump cut-off switch activated manually or by intrusion detection? for thieves on foot....
and for the tow-&-go thieves (like da repo-man)....i think this would work....
(4) 3" diameter tubing lengths a few inches more than the width of the truck. two for the front and two for the back wheels, the posts go in front and behind the tires. a pair of posts are welded together with a plate attching the two. the plate makes thses a permanant joint on one side, the other uses a hole in the tubing or a welded loop to attach a section of chain and padlock that effectively locks this device the tires. a straps go over the tires to each section of tubing. kinda like the tow trucks with the two forks use. the posts wont allow those forks under the tires, will seriously limit rolling, and will just appear waaaaay too much trouble to take. my

if you're worried about the chain or lock being cut....another small section of steel tubing diamter enough to allow for the lock and chain to go inside, recess the attachment points into the tubing, many more clever tweaks...i  know i know, its like 100 lbs of theft deterent, but look at it this way.....at least if you catch the phukkr in da act, you'll have something bludgeon them with!!!
alcohol.....the cause of, and solution to, all life's problems

Another thing to make STEAL PROOF is your stereo! Toyota doors are so easy to unlock anyone can do it in seconds. Alot of thieves go for toyotas just to take the stereo. My amp was stolen 10 feet from my front door. Amps should be mounted to sheetmetal (back of cab) use a sheetmetal screw that takes a square head instead of a philips then fill the head with JB weld and there is no way to remove the screws with out a die grinder. Do the same on the deck and speakers. The harder you make things for thieves the less they will be around, just a thought.

12voltguy.com has one.  Starter diconnect, so it doesnt do much for a manual tranny, since you could bump start it.  But he includes a toggle to use as you wish...

I always wanted to get 2 or 3 good sized diamond backs or rattlers and get them devenomed, then leave em in the truck. Now I just have to catch myself some rattlesnakes, and figure out where the hell I take them to get their venom sacks removed. Plus I need to get used to having big fangs sunk into my flesh but if its for the protection of my baby, I will definitely do it.  :gap:

not to mention the people trying to start your truck will be concentrating on the obvious switches instead of the real one.
