with how late we got up to the koa on thurs night i might as well just come up early fri morning.

KYOTA

DONT BELIEVE THE IMAGE THEIR SITE GIVES YOU!!!

we staged there last year expecting the nice new cabins and BIG bar they show on the site, only to find they havent been built yet, a line of porta shitters that hadent been clean all season (P.U.!!) the owners son seemed to have a group of his friends living up there in trailers bummin around. The son I guess was the cook and thought it perfectly normal to be in the 'kitchen' :puke: fixing food looking like he just pulled a motor smoking a cigarette and pounding beer (the guy was shitfaced too boot). that place is a shithole, never going back. Icehouse resort this year
The story we got from the owner was he sent his son up there to do all the new upgrades but he was up there running the place into the ground. Keep in mind, this was last year so dad (supposedly was going to) may have gone up there and straightened that mess out.

good luck :talkingn:

MiniSimp

Yeah, I'm not expecting anything too good, just close to loon.

KYOTA

#4
another option is there is a campground literally about 1/2 mile from loon on the right. I think it was $5 a spot, with tables, cooking pits and bathrooms, and you could walk down to the lake from the campground. take the tow rig and trailer down to the spillway and unload and drive the trail rig back up to the campground for the night.

snowshoebrue

do these spots have to be reserved in advance or is it first come first serve

at robbs? last year we were the only ones there (we just parked the tow rig and trailer there and camped at the campground by loon)
or the campground? it was first come, pick a spot (numbered) and drop the $$ in an envelope with your space # on it. also theres more than one campground that one is just right there close to the spillway

I like the Robbs idea, but then again, I like the idea of the sites 1/2 mile from Loon.  They're cheaper, the bathrooms are maintained and clean, and you get to watch everyone drive in on Friday/Saturday.  I'm taking Friday off, so we're planning on heading up late Thursday night wherever we're going

let me get this straight mini.   You made a reservation for one night?  (thursday)  and where do people keep their tow Rigs all weekend :dunno:

I've seriously got to start planning, and figuring out what to expect.  Since this will be my first time at the roundup.

Yeah, one night. Robbs has storage for your tow rig. I think it's like $7 a day.

Cool thanks.  I'm going to see what it will cost to rent a truck and borrow a friends trailer (or just buy one) :crossed:   This way I can wheel hard and not have to worry about making it home.  :yesnod:

good idea.
That is one thing i like about having a trailer now, if anybody breaks, I can load them up and take them home.

We'll be parking at the KOA again. Yes, it's costly but we feel most secure keeping the LBC there. (especially after reading Kyota's report on Rob's)
We will either forge on ahead Thur. night to meet you all up there at Rob's or meet you first thing in the morning.
If there are only a few of us leaving from the KOA it shouldn't take us long to get on the road.

My dad, brother, and I will be staying at Robb's on Thursday night and Sunday night.  That is a good rally point.
