if you can last a day then you will most likely be in the clear. make sure you drink lots of water, i know that a glass of water for me is sometimes the best remedy for a headache..      :twocents:

I used to drown my self in soda and I just dropped in cold turkey one day.  Water is very good as well, try drinking that more.

:yesnod: and I hate to say it, but suffer through the headache.  A buddy of mine quit drinking soda a year or two ago (he drank prolly 40-60 oz. a day)  and he was sick as a dog for 3 days after quitting.  My mom gets caffeine headaches too.  Drinks a pepsi, and it goes away.

True dat, I used to drink sodas when I'd get headaches (which was all the frickin time back then :headscratch: ) and it helped ease the pain.  Come to think of it, it took a couple months or so, but I don't get headaches near as much as I used to.  Hmmm, another welcome side effect of not drinking soda...

I planned on weining myself off soda, but I really only cut it in half for maybe 2 days then quit altogether.  I was going on a hiking trip through the alps for a week and didn't wanna be going through violent withdrawls miles from nowhere.  Luckily I never had issues with quitting, no more or less headaches initially, and surprisingly no cravings.  I'm not saying I'll never drink soda again, I just have no intention of it now, though it'll most likely be root beer if I do drink another :yesnod:

Oh yea, I had ANOTHER dream about drinking a soda again last night!  Once again, standing there saying I don't drink soda, only to notice a mostly consumed bottle in my hand.  Must be all this soda talk :haha:

I'm down with tea, almost the only caffeine I get.  One of my favorite parts of going to logan's roadhouse is their sweet tea, don't even hafta bother adding the sugar myself

That's funny, I've considered sporting a pedometer at work and trying to figure out how far I walk in a typical day.  I'm constantly up and down the dock and make several trips up an average of 75 stairs a day, so I'm pretty sure I walk a fair distance too.  It's funny, my guys sometimes think I'm a lazy supervisor but have no idea how much I actually do in a day.

I probably hafta go to work tomorrow and sit in on a generator class, but I'll be taking the mountainbike for a ride tomorrow and see if I can't burn a little off.  I'd like to continue eating the way I do and just work it off, but we'll see.

I'm gonna try and make sure I don't eat a meal after 8pm.  It'll be tough during the summer when I'm getting off between 8:30 and 12, but if I can break the habit of late meals that should atleast be a step in the right direction.

I bought one of those pedometer things from REI a while back and figured out I walk between 3-5 miles a day and I work as a tech for toyota.  I think most of that is due to how far away employees have to park.  I can't really do much running because of flat feet and chiropractic issues, but I really need to get on a bike again.  I sold my GT STS 1000 about a year ago and have regretted it ever since.  I can acutally see my manboob reflection in my computer screen right now - ick!  I haven't cut soda out of my diet, but I limited it to one a day about 6 months ago.

I weighed 130 when I graduated H.S. back in '94 and now I weight 185 on a 5'10" frame.  I think my best weight was about 160, but I'd like to be 160 and be all muscle.  Well, no bike buying in my near future because I'm saving for a wedding.  What to do.....

Crap tice, that would kinda suck!  My 30" waste bands are gettin a little tight.... did some jumping jacks this morning and just did some more.  I'm gonna go out right now and ride the bike around the short trail by the house right now.  It's not much, but i'll get my blood moving a little anyway.  I ate early and only plan on some light snacking before I hit the sack, plus I'm not gonna drink anymore sweet tea after another 4 minutes.  Water only for the rest of the night.

wanna gain weight?  start a high protein diet.

I dont have any "winter blubber" but I work out a regular 5-4 days a week depending on how work goes. Keeps me motivated... besides I love hitting the weights.. been working out since I was 16.

Doesn't matter how much you eat in a day if you have a high motabolism, your just burning it off.

I also have a high motabolism and when I was bulking up i'd cram as much protein as I could. There's a product called Muscle Milk... really good protein shake mix.. try it out if you wanna gain some weight. They've also got all kinds of 50 gram protein bars that'll pump.. you up!  :bananajumprope:

I am in college so I only work part time but my job is not the easiest.  I load trucks at UPS 4 hours a day 5 days a week constantly with one break.  Lifting boxes up to 140 pounds gives a pretty good work out.  Most weight about 25 pounds though I would say.  My job is basically like playing with a big medicine ball all evening.  I also run about 3 miles every other day.  I used to run 6 miles 6 days a week but at 19 I'm already having knee problems from that and the motocross so I slowed my running way down and I don't do it as fast as I used too.  I crank out 3 miles in just under 20 minutes.  I used to run 5-5:15 minute miles so I slowed way down.

On the protein stuff,  my dad is 6'4 230 ish with about an 8% body fat percentage.  He is umm HUGE lol.  He reps just over 400 on the bench and can run multiple 7:30 miles.  After he got out of the Marine Corps he became a personal trainer so he trained his body to be quite muscular but he is no where near as large as the guys he lifts with as he enjoys cardio as well so he conditioned his body that way.  Anyways, what I was going to say is that he really doesn't enjoy eating so what he does is he gets these tube things of gel that have like 3000 calories in them and a ton of protein and he consumes a tube of that crap along with his normal diet a day which is probably around 4500 calories.  I can eat whatever I want since I'm young and excercise but I still try to eat healthy for the long run because I know my generation is going to be SCREWED up from all the nasty fast food and processed garbage everyone my age consumes.

I can feel all your guys pain. I am 6' 220lbs. I do have a large frame, but I need to get down to 200lbs. But I can't shake my beer habit. I have cut it down to only a few days a week now. But its hard. I have no problem with soda. I drink plenty of water daily. I have also been lifting weights and kickboxing twice a week. But I haven't gotten any smaller. I don't eat that much at all. Cereal or oatmeal in the mornings. A decent lunch most of the time. I also try to eat dinner before 6pm. I try to make my dinner with some type of meat(protein) and some type of vegetable. Maybe its the rice that messes with me. But beer owns me unfortunatley.

Try some cardio, that will shave the pounds faster than weight training and it gets your heart rate up faster, gets going harder and longer than weight training does.  Also, don't get discouraged, I know plenty of people who started working out and two months later saw no results as they were used to looking at them selves everyday and quit, don't let that happen to you.  You may also not be losing weight due to the gained muscle mass you will receive while weight training as well.

I get the cardio in when I do kickboxing. But I guess I need to sweat more. The damn people that come into my brothers apartment complex gym keep opening the damn windows everytime. I try to keep the windows closed so I can sweat more. I even wear a sweatshirt when I work out to sweat more. I guess I am not doing enough.

I think its the beer..................

Beer is very bad but all sweating does is get rid of water weight.  If you just care about weighing less then sweating is good (like wrestlers do) but if you actually want to lose weight keeping the windows open pr closed does not matter.

If you can't cut out the beer(like me) cut down on the amount of bread you eat.  Think of beer as bread in a bottle.  I quit eating fast food, cut back on regular bread, kept drinking (probably more than most of you, and well leave it at that), I have quit soda all but maybe 2-3 a month.  I eat 3 eggs for breakfast, lunchmeat on wheat with light mayo and mustard for lunch, and typically a chicken titty for dinner, with beers for dessert.  Not adding any exercise, I have dropped probably 10-15 pounds WITHOUT CHANGING ANYTHING ELSE.  Gonna get back on the bike next week(I hope) to get in some cardio.
