Hey Headache I'm an operator too!! I dont work in an open pit anymore but used to. Now I just run eqipment on various job sites, kinda miss being around the really big stuff, about the biggest dozer I run now is an 8N or 9L. Can you hook me up with a job, wheres Frazier Park anyways?

Frazier Park is just east of me.  about an hour south of Bakersfeild on the I-5.  I don't operate, just fix stuff after there blown up. Have run some loaders thow.  never any dozers:sob: would like to try some day. fond out one day that I CAN'T run a blade:laugh:

Roadgrader!  my favorite. Anyhow I work at a cement plant outside of gorman on hwy 138. I do everything from working in the lab to running 992G, 16G motorgrader, and run the good ol' muck stick once in awhile.   Going after a blasting license also

i get to work with the f-16 block 30, 40 & 50. its all right but being here to help my country rocks. i dont think sadam would let us got wheelin if he was running this place. so for now i will stick with low pay and crappy hours and little wheelin truck just because i love to do what i want. for anyone who hates this country MOVE OUT

Well im 16 and i work at the ranch in wilton which is just 10 minutes out of sacramento.  I fix atv's, tractors, forklifts, hogs, crotchrockets, and trucks.  I also got access to every tool you could think of.  Hes got a 5000$ tig welder.  man that thing can lay some dimes.  We also harvest hay so i get to drive bailers and crawlers and stuff.  10$ an hour but its not enough to get me to 221:1  I like it though.

I realize that this topic is extremely old (I got the 120 day plus warning), but I couldn't find the most recent thread on jobs.  I love the search feature 

I work at a Navy shipyard as a structural engineer.  I have spent the majority of my time working on Los Angeles Class submarines (the first sub I worked on was the USS Houston that played the USS Dallas in the Hunt for Red October) and have been to the majority of the deepest darkest smallest areas on them.  I have squeezed through a 12-3/4 inch diameter hole a couple of times.  I have also spent some time working on Ohio Class Trident subsmarines and will soon get the chance to work on the Seawolf Class submarines.  Next week I am going to the east coast to be part of an audit team as part of the certification of a Virginia Class submarine.  I should get the opportunity to tour/inspect a submarine that is still sitting on the factory floor and is a couple of years from being certified and operational.

To give you an idea of the shear mass of a submarine, Newport News Shipyard has a 900 metric ton crane that can lift the entire superstructure (multi-story structure that sits on the flight deck) onto a new aircraft carrier.  It would take at least 7 of these cranes to lift a Los Angeles Class sub and it is the smallest in the current fleet.

I have actually stood under an aircraft carrier in drydock and I have sat next to a former sailer that worked as Sean Connery's personal advisor in the movie mentioned above.

Really I spend most of my time doing paperwork, but I can sure make it sound cool.
