I relaize this is several day's late, but....

1. I'm glad you're feeling better. sorry you had to go thru that. I've had to drain lots of those things, and they are not fun (even for me on the other end of the scalpel)

2. Don't pull the pin from the grenade! It's there to aid in drainage. They should have set you up with a follow up appointment for a day or two to have the packing removed and replaced. The abscess has to heal from the inside out. It's a long tedious process, but don't let the skin grow back together too soon, or you'll end up with another abscess.

Actually, women can go thru something similar. It's called a bartholins cyst, and it's when one of the bartholin glands gets blocked and infected. It has to be one of the most painful things I could imagine. I've had to drain several of these, and I can't imagine how painful it would be.

I could probably get some, but I doubt you'd be licking your lips after you saw it....Matter of fact, I'm not sure you'd ever be able to look at "that" again without wanting to go poke out your minds eye! Most of "those" I see at work are not the ones you want to think about or remember later.
