IFS Steering Box
« on: Mar 18, 2004, 07:46:04 PM »
:bowdown:Are there instructions (with pictures!) for mounting the IFS steering box on my '83 Toy. I just purchased Marlin's awesome high steer kit. I want to make sure I do it right the first time  :crossed:

wrong section  Heres your answer, it is really easy to put the box on your frame.  When I did mine (84) I just used an origional steering box hole to line up the rear most hole on the new box.  Really easy to figure it all out then.

since he has the kit with the upper tab you have one point decided allready. Personally I cut my own plates for BOTH sides of the frame (bad experience in the past), I put the two bottom holes parallel in the middle of the frame and slide them till the pitman barely clears and that is where it goes. I take a hole saw and cut out the frame to fit in pipe to sandwich between the frame and plates and drill the box out to fit the 1/2" bolts and that is it! Not sure on the kit though..

I'm doing it right know on my 81. Because I'm doing RUF I had to plasma out sum of my body to fit it foward. It's a pain if you have traction bar up front. Got to cut and grind off the original Chinese hack job.

Are there any common problems with this install?
