steering?

what is the differance between crossover steering and high steer crossover steering?
89 ext cab sas with diamond +4 1/2" housing 30 spline longs and hub gears, hp elocker, six studs, arp studs in everything, taco rear with elocker. swaped out 22re for 3.4l supercharged, urd 2.0" pulley, urd fuel management, downey headers, flowmaster, cold air intake, marlin clutch that is straining to hold up

On high steer the tie rod and draglink is above the springs, on normal crossover just the drag link is above the springs.
Full hydro, 186:1 with an auto and 44's what could go wrong??

are there any benifits to high steer . i was going to just weld 2 arms together and make my own crossover steering with some heim joints. 400 bucks is a lot off cash for some thing i can make with spare parts.

Benifits would be getting your tie-rod up and out of the way of the rocks and the crossover gets you better leveridge on your steering

I just made my own a few weeks ago.  did the same thing you are talking about.  The only catch is I used a manual box.  kinda defeats the purpose I suppose but it is a lot better than the origional steering that was on there!

a couple of my friends did this to their trucks a 85 & a sas 87 it works great. the arm looks just like the pic you have posted.

If you only knew the way it used to steer!  It had a power box that I never bothered to hook up, stock draglink, and to make it more difficult on myself I put a new set of 39.5 tsl's with 3 in backspacing on it for a while.  Now when it was like that yes I was almost buff!  The things you do to a DD;)

That sounds like something you would wind up and dump the clutch then steer with the rear :driving:

i couldnt even imagine steering 39s with out some kind of assistance.... i think your right 84 runner...haha
85 cab on a 87 sas frame with 6 inch lift, 15x10 wheels, 34-10.50 swampers, all pro high steer, shock hoops, dual diff guards, in cab roll cage, rancho 5000s, all poly bushings remote diff breathers front and rear recievers, welded rear(4:30's) 22re
