clicking front axle
« on: Mar 28, 2007, 05:47:47 PM »
is it the bearing? hub? gears?  it will click if the hubs are locked, unlocked, 4wd, 2wd, turning, driving slow, fast, in all situations it will click.  what is causing the click?

i will be rebuilding the axle this spring break and wanted to know before i order the kit. i need to know if i should get the bearings.  i dont have time to take it apart to see where the click is comming from then order the kit to only return to school.

what truck do you have? 85 solid axle 4x4, 95 4x4, that would greatly help narrow the issue.... can you be more specific than clicking?  doe it do it all the time, when you turn?

I don't see anything wrong with the 1st answer you got. You need to give as much info as possible including your rig.

The second answer was just a heads up to go check your other post on a different forum since it did have more response than here.

We are all nice here, I've never had a problem with anyone on this forum & everyone that I have met face to face on this forum have been cool.

You only have 2 posts as of now so how can you judge?  :twocents:

What is your problem?? The only way you're gonna know what's wrong with it is to tear the damn thing apart. Here's a hint, order the stuff now so you can still drive your truck and when you get your parts have a friend help you rebuild the axle in an afternoon to minimize down time. :welcome:

How do you even know what is wrong? How do you know that the local Napa won't have the parts you need to repair the truck? How do you know that it is gonna take all spring break to fix it? You don't and won't know anything until you take it apart. Stop being dramatic and playing the whole "everybody is mean" act. Man up and be responsible for your own truck.

Maybe you should just pay a mechanic.
If you still have control you aren't going fast enough

WOW, someone is having a bad day  :therethere:. I thought your reply was quite cordial Mini  :dunno:. I do agree though, There is no better way to know for sure what the noise is without a teardown. Even if twenty people responded with all good info, that doesn't mean that anyone who responded will be correct given all the possibilities with so little info about the rig in question.  :twocents:. Good luck with fixing it though  :yesnod:.
