Filling W56 Transmission
« on: Mar 22, 2007, 12:29:43 PM »
Can I fill it from the shifter hole at the top??

I've got 3 quarts of MT-90 that I want to get in before my Moab trip and I hate having to fill the tranny and t-cases from the side.  I end up making a big mess  :therethere:

i use a hose going through the shifter boot, takes about 10 min to fill that way, no mess.
rebuilt 22R, downey header long tubes, 2.5" exhaust, 4 inch marlin lift with 3 inch shackles, detriot locker, 4.88's on 33's.marlin cross over steering and fror crossmember, power steering conversion, chromoly 30 spline bobby longs, 86+ wider rear axle, 12 inch 5150's all around, fully gusseted with armor...soon to be sitting on 35 bfg MT with an all pro roll cage and rock lights!

you can fill it from the top, but you are still going to need to crack open the side hole to check the level

Yeah you can just take the cap off the side of the tranny and stop filling it when the oil runs out over the plug's hole.

Edit: you beat me jimbo
