A sad reality...

It has recently come to my attention that my truck is 23 years old.  I realize that eventually there will be no more usable Toy axles, and eventually every rig will be either Diamonds or fullwidths.  Jeep is the only OEM that still equips an SFA on new vehicles(barring fullsizes, of course).  Basically, what I now realize is that everything will  be, more or less, a buggy.  I enjoy the fact that my rig is probably 90-95% OE.  It was built right the first time, I have just decided to go "more extreme" than originally intended. I should just give up now and build a Diamond-axled, GM-powered, Atlas Tcased tube buggy.  And this saddens me. :brick: :soapbox:

edit: my computer crashed as I was typing this...it gets hot and shuts off sometimes.  Anyway, I reopened firefox, and it says "last session closed unexpectedly.  Would you like to restore?"  I hit yes, and I get my post back! How cool is that?!

Yet another firefox feature I appreciate

That's kinda why I'm leaning more toward just cleaning up my longbed and selling it, then turning my beat 81 2wd sb into a wheeler.

I'm still running stock toyota gear, except for my rear springs, and yes, it sucks that there are very few "off the lot" SFA vehicles to choose from.

i wont buy a "new" vehicle because of all the extra "standard equipment". i dont need heated seats, dont need a 6 disc cd player, dont need a flip down tv, DEFINATLY dont need an automatic, etc... the only new vehicle i will consider right now is the military version of the duramax. bare basic interior, stripped down to necessities, available with a manual 6 speed, my kinda vehicle if only it came with a solid front axle (but can do an sas).

Even the diamond is endangered unless somebody starts to produce OEM Toyota knuckle balls. Diamond cuts the balls off of stock yota axles. So in effect Diamond is contributing to the shortage of toyota front axles

I think it will be a LONG time before there will be a shortage of Toyota axles. They are everywhere. What there is a shortage of is super cheap axles. But you cheapa$$s will just have to pull up your huggies and drop $300 for a axle.:) :gap:

Well arnt you the big guy!GO back to Pirate. Rabble rabble.....

You are sad cause no "good" trucks are made anymore, and you dont want build one of them silly buggys, but you want more extreme. I shed a little tear for you, life must be hard......:)

If you are willing to pay the price you have nothing to worry about. I dont see why you are sad, you can build a very hardcore truck and still stay 80-85% OEM. But im sure you know that.

You still don't understand. It is about the realization that SOMEDAY the same parts we use now will be hard to find.

No, it won't be that long. 5 years ago Toyota axles were everywhere where I live. Now it takes a miracle to find one. I bet 5 years they will be hard to find, 10 years pretty much non existant in stock form.

Must be where you live. I have no problem finding them here. Hell you need one? I got 2. One semi built and one stock.

Where I live, the combination of my club consuming most of the local axles and people building Toyotas like crazy have pretty much exhausted the supply.

it will happen every where, sooner or latter. just the way things work. if you don't think so, just live a bit longer and see.

I see where you are coming from but..... Get over it that is life. This same thing has been hapening for years and it just seems to make the exhisting toy fronts, vw bugs, and 60's camaros more valueable. Good advice. I am going to change my situation by buying every Toyota axle I can find and stock pile them for my personal use.
