weld the gears together and then tothe carrier.  Weld each gear to the carrier and your gonna want the wleder up so it gets good penetration.  but i would weld one or two beads and then let it cool so it doesn't warp.

i have been abusing my welded front and rear 3rd for 2 yrs and with no problems, and they are all melted to each other and to the carrier, once before i did try the plate ideal, and it was a bad ideal, it broke loose and destroyed the carrier and the spiders, everything fell apart and locked up, after getting it to unbing, i had to tow it home and lost me axle bearings since the spider gears all fell into pieces into the bottom of the housing

Mine is welded to the carrier. It could be warped but it hasn't broke.

You decided against the drive flanges then? Mine should arrive on Wednesday with my Arp hub and knuckle studs.

for just a few dollars more I had the option to unlock the hubs,
that is a very good option to have sometimes :yesnod: could possibly save your ass

Bobby woundn't warrenty the axles unless I bought his flanges, and for just a few dollars more I had the option to unlock the hubs, so..... what the heck!

I called him and he said it wouldn't be an issue since the drive flange material is softer than the birfield thus the drive flange will strip before the birf does. He also noted that drive flange failure was very uncommon. I would rather the drive flange strip than something else detonating in the drivetrain.
