Yesterday my wife and I signed papers on our new car.  It will be her daily driver to replace the Tundra.  How about this for specs:

2007 Mazda SPEED 3
263 HP & 280 lb-ft of torque
Top Speed: 150+ mph
Color: Silver

Keep in mind that it is a four door "sport wagon" that can hold four adults in comfort.  I am about 6'-0" and I can easily sit behind myself.  Quite a family car if you ask me.

The car arrived at the port on Sunday and we are hopeful to take delivery later this week or over the weekend.  The one I test drove was very impressive.  The engine system limits the power while turning to help manage the torque streer from the limited-slip front differential and also doesn't allow full power until 3rd gear due to the 2wd instead of the Awd in the Mazda SPEED 6.

Here is the link and pictures (red vs. silver)

I'm not even driving it yet and I got pulled over. :yikes:  I'm driving a loaner regular 2005 Mazda3.  I got pulled over because the dealer stuck two plates on it and it's apparently illegal.    :smack:   Anyway, I've never had a speeding ticket before   so we'll see what happens now.

How is that gonna tow a trail rig?
IFS is best kept at ambient temperature in a pile of scrap in the backyard.  When kept under a functioning vehicle, it tends to greatly diminish said vehicle's offroad ability.     -reklund5

I didn't tow my rig with the Tundra so nothing has really changed.  I drive my rigs!  That's why I'm so picky about what parts I use and tend to overbuild a bit.

 :attention:

The saleman just called and told me that he had confirmation that the car will arrive at the dealer in the morning.  The Mazda Rep stopped by the port and put his eyes on the car and verified that it was in line for the next truck scheduled for Tuesday morning.

I read an article somewhere about that exact car. It has really stirred up the sports car market since its actually affordable and kicks a$$.

Apparently other auto manufacturers are  little pissed off at Mazda since the performance to cost ratio as been closed considerably now, forcing them to actually lower prices, or design something worth owning. Yet another example of why American auto companies will be a thing of the past, unless they start designing vehicles that can outlast/outperform there Japanese counterparts.

There were a few small delays, but we got the car!  They hadn't completed the detail process when we arrived and then one of the fuses wasn't working when the salesman drove it around front.  The service department was closed so he figured it out.  Someone in the service department will get a talking to in the morning I'm sure.

It is an amazing car to drive!

Almost 400 miles after todays drive.

Seems to be getting about 25 mpg with mixed "spirited" driving.  I cracked 100 mph and it was smooth as silk.

My personal opinion is that Mazda is losing money on this car and is only producing them for advertisement.  They are a lot of car for the money.

Again I say WOW!  :yesnod:

I was just happy to get it.  Waiting 8 days for it stinked.  The sad thing was the fuse problem that the poor salesman had to figure out in the dark and rain since it was too late for the service department to be open.
