engine swap questions
« on: Feb 20, 2007, 05:08:03 PM »
i have a friend who is swapping a 3.4 into his 96 tacoma, ad i am thinking of buying his 2.7 for my '83.  question is will that motor bolt up to a w56 tranny or do i need to go with a taco tranny and tc setup.  i already have a few extra t-cases for the older trucks and would prefer using the older stuff.

it should bolt on, as i think the w59 is what was attached to that engine....

well what i have is a w-56-b out of an 88.  the 95.5-04 2.7 tacos came with the w59, but i think you're right it should bolt up.

all you need is the bellhousing from the tacoma,   bolt it to the w56  and  haul butt
