Topic: engine swap questions and concerns

i have an 84 pick up with the 22r thats constantly having problems...no i have found a engine out of a 99 Tacoma and im not sure if its the 2rz or the 3rz cause i only know 20r, 22r, and 22res. but whats the possibility of swapping the Tacoma motor in for my 22r? and what gains/loses in power will i get? and any smog problems will i be facing(i live in CA among the smog nazi's). the Tacoma motor has only 33 miles on it and comes supposable all the wiring minus the computer. please help me out with any and all comments and advice u can!!!!

2rz is from 2wd Tacomas and the 3rz is from 4wd. Other than that do a search cause Big Mike has covered this subject start to finish and then some. The thread will answer any of your Q's
